Rob could think of better ways for his business trip to be ending. He had spent five days at the lodge in the safari park but he was not there to enjoy the African bush. He was negotiating a contract to supply the chain of lodges with a bespoke IT booking and accounting system with ongoing support. The locals were driving a hard bargain and there was Chinese competition but he felt that he had done enough to clinch the deal.

So what was the cause of his displeasure as they began the journey home ? It was the quartet of entitled 18 year old girls that he had been saddled with. Their brainless wittering had been a constant irritation at dinner and breakfast. They were superficially attractive enough but came from that spoiled and selfish class that thought the rest of the world existed solely for their benefit. Rob had been looking forward to leaving them behind until on the night prior to departure he was approached by the group's chaperone. They were from a Swiss finishing school and the safari holiday was an end of term excursion. Not for the likes of them a weekend camping in the New Forest ! However, the fifth girl in the party had fallen ill with a mysterious fever and the chaperone was obliged to stay on with her. Would the nice gentleman be so very kind as to accompany the other four girls on the trip home to ensure their safety and also see that they did not cause any mischief ?

What could he say ? At 35 Rob felt that he had absolutely nothing in common with these girls and had already been severely irritated by them. But he did realize there was plenty of scope for things to go wrong for the girls, at least until they made it back to the capital and the international airport. For their part, the girls were distinctly underwhelmed to be nominally under the control of this grumpy and boring salesman who they had judged to be no fun at all.

They had already spent the previous evening 'getting acquainted' as the chaperone had put it. And Rob had already got on their bad side by reprimanding them for making too much noise and insisting they all go to bed at ten thirty so as not to miss the bus in the morning. The bus in which they were now sitting, as it made it's way across the hot and dusty bush towards the small regional airport from which they would be making the short hop to the capital.
