Rebuilding

It all started off as just another day at school...

I sat in Mrs. Benison's English class, doodling away in the margins of my notebook, while she droned on endlessly about the proper use of commas. Having her as my last subject of the day was both a blessing and a curse. On one hand, it gave me plenty of time to crap out any homework that I'd neglected to do the night before, but it also made the last hour of the day drag on forever.

Sitting two seats across from me was Laura Haynes. She was everything everything I thought I wanted in a girl. She was 5'6'' with curves in all the right places, blazing short red hair, and a cute mousey voice that gave me chills when she spoke. I couldn't help but glance over there a few times everyday during class when I thought she wasn't paying attention. Occasionally, she'd catch me looking over there and give a sly smile with those paralyzing blue eyes of hers. I thought of that and a slight smile crept across my face as I slowly turned to look at her.

To my surprise, she was already peering over at me. (Was she checking me out?) I instantly tensed up, my grip on my pencil increasing before I could think of how to react. (Keep cool.) I locked eyes with her and gave her as confident a look as I could muster. She smiled for a moment pulling out a folded piece of paper and quickly passing it over to me.

That's the moment my life started to go right and the world started to go wrong..
