Chapter 1

The sun was blazing in the vast blue sky, beating down on a kaleidoscope of beach towels and various vacationers. The air hummed with the distant shrieks of people, the rhythmic crash of waves, and the murmur of a hundred conversations.
Ashley (25) lay on her stomach, her cheeks pressed against the warm terrycloth, watching her boyfriend, Tim (24), doze peacefully to her right. Her eyes roamed his toned muscles glistening in the sun. Her best friend Victoria (25), an Alpha, sat cross-legged, applying a fresh coat of suntan lotion to her cleavage.
What's an Alpha you ask? Well, sometime before Ashley and Victoria were born a massive breakthrough in human evolution happened, people all over the world developed psychic powers! These people are known as Alpha’s. Not the technical name but a slang word that Beta’s didn't like.
What's a Beta you ask? Simple, someone who didn't receive the gift of psychic powers. Also not the technical name and also not popular amongst Betas as you can imagine.
Surprisingly the world didn't go into total chaos, in fact, the world stayed relatively the same. Betas are completely **** to Alpha's but there are laws and protocols put into place to protect them. Most of the time anyway.
Ashley and Victoria had been inseparable since they were little girls, their bond forged on playgrounds and sleepovers. Growing up, Victoria always seemed to have an edge—whether it was acing tests without studying or effortlessly winning the affections of boys. But it wasn’t until middle school that Ashley discovered Victoria’s true advantage: psychic powers. Victoria was an Alpha.
It started subtly, with Victoria predicting little things like quiz questions or which boys would ask Ashley to dance at the school social. At first, she thought it was luck, but when Victoria began manipulating objects with her mind—her floating a pencil during math class was the final straw—Ashley couldn’t deny it. She felt a pang of jealousy simmer beneath their friendship. “Why does she get to be an Alpha, while I’m just… ordinary?”
Victoria, being a show-off, didn’t help matters. She’d flaunt her abilities, levitating Ashley’s skirt to flash her panties or reading her thoughts aloud to embarrass her in front of friends. “You’re thinking about Jacob again, aren’t you?” she’d tease, grinning as she turned beet red. It wasn’t malicious, but it was embarrassing.
One time she made Ashley dance at a night club for her 21st birthday. She had Ashley twerking and shimmying her chest out on the dance floor like a slutty sorority girl. Her body was a puppet on a string as they owned the dance floor. Ashley acted embarrassed and scolded her afterwards but deep down, Ashley had a fun time. It also made Ashley a little bit horny, actually really horny but she’d never admitted it.
Over time, though, Ashley learned to accept it. Victoria’s powers weren’t just for show—they were a shield. When an Alpha girl and her posse of Betas tried to bully Ashley, Victoria stepped in, using her powers to trip the ringleader and scare them off. “Nobody messes with my best friend,” she’d said, her voice echoing through their minds.
Ashley realized then that Victoria’s abilities weren’t just a source of envy—they were a gift that kept them both safe. She stopped resenting her lack of powers and started feeling grateful for Victoria’s protectiveness. Sure, she still got annoyed when Victoria rubbed it in her face, but deep down, Ashley knew she’d rather have Victoria by her side than anyone else.
Ashley’s conservative black bikini clung to her curves in a way that made her feel both exposed and self-conscious. She’d spent hours agonizing over it in the dressing room, wishing she could be as comfortable in her own skin as Victoria always seemed to be.
“You’re staring,” Victoria said, catching my gaze with a knowing smirk. “What’s going on in that head of yours?”
Ashley looked down at her bikini-clad body again, trying to see herself through Victoria’s eyes. Maybe, just maybe, she could learn to let go—to stop worrying and start living. But even as the thought crossed her mind, she could feel the familiar knot of anxiety tightening in her chest, pulling her back into the safety of self-doubt.
“I just… I can’t stop thinking about it,” Ashley whispered, her voice barely audible over the beach’s din.
“Thinking about what, sweetie? That shady spot over by the dunes? Because I’m with you, this sun is brutal.”
Ashley’s eyes darted nervously around the crowded beach, scanning the college sunbathers and partiers playing in the surf. Her heart thumped a frantic rhythm against the sand-speckled towel, louder than the crashing waves. She felt the weight of her secret pressing on her chest, threatening to burst free. “No. Not that,” she finally whispered, her voice trembling. Her gaze flickered to Tim, still dozing beside her, then back to Victoria, who was watching her with a curious tilt of her head.
Ashley took a shaky breath, her fingers fidgeting with the edge of her towel. “I want to do it," she blurted out, her cheeks flushing crimson. "I want to just…be confident, act brazen without shame" the words tumbled out in a rush, as though saying them any slower would make her lose her courage altogether. Her eyes widened as soon as they escaped, like she couldn’t believe she’d actually spoken them aloud.
Victoria’s perfectly sculpted eyebrow arched. She followed Ashley’s gaze to the sparkling ocean, where a few brave souls were splashing in the waves. “You want to act with no inhibitions? With absolute confidence?”
“Yes!” Ashley thought, knowing Victoria could read her mind.
Victoria wickedly smirked and arced her eye brow. “Why not just go out there and have fun? Fake it till you make it, you know?” Victoria thought back.
“I can’t.” Ashley trembled with a mix of fear and **** yearning. “That’s the point. Every time I try to act confident I just freeze up! I can’t. My body just freezes. I want to, but I physically can’t make myself move.” She thought in her mind.
A slow, knowing smile spread across Victoria’s face. It was a smile that promised mischief and held secrets. “What if you didn’t have to be the one moving your body?”
Ashley’s eyes, wide and hopeful, locked onto Victoria’s. “huh? Like when you made me flash at Mardi Gras!?” Ashley shivered and felt a tingly sensation between her legs.
Victoria chuckled at the memory.
“You’re my best friend. It’s my sacred duty to help you be the best version of yourself.” Victoria’s gaze intensified, her pupils seeming to darken and expand. “But I must warn you, my methods are intense. I'm going to push you out of your comfort zone, and all you have to do is relax and enjoy the ride. What do you say?”
Ashley paused for a second, “what are you going to make me do?” Ashley said out loud this time.
“Not telling,” Victoria smirked.
“Why!?” Ashley responded.
“Because if I told you, you’d chicken out. But I promise, when it's all over you'll feel more alive and confident than ever before! Like a whole new person!”
Ashley looked back at her boyfriend Tim, starting to wake from his nap. “Will Tim approve?” Ashley whispered.
Victoria’s gaze intensified, her pupils seeming to darken and expand. “Just relax. And say yes.”
Ashley knew she should say no, she should get out while she can but instead she took a deep breath and said, “Yes.”
It started as a gentle pressure behind her eyes, a soft, psychic hum that vibrated through her skull. Then, the sensation spread, a wave of warm, invisible energy washing down her spine, into her limbs, settling into the very tips of her fingers and toes.
Ashley watched, her breath caught in her throat, as her own body began to move without her conscious command.
Her right arm lifted, smooth and graceful, as if pulled by strings. Her fingers, which felt curiously distant, like they belonged to someone else, went to the knot of her bikini top at the small of her back. They tugged. The tight bow loosened. The sensation was surreal, a dizzying cocktail of sheer terror and intoxicating liberation.
“Victoria!” Ashley tried to scream but her mouth wouldn't move.
“Enjoy the ride Ash!” Victoria laughed.
The triangle of black fabric fell away from her front. Her generous, heavy breasts, freed from their confinement, swayed with the motion, the warm air brushing against her nipples, making them pull into tight, sensitive peaks.
A small, choked gasp escaped her lips, but it was the only sound she could make. Her body was no longer her own.
Next, her hands moved to the sides of her bikini bottoms, hooking her thumbs into the fabric. With a slow, deliberate push, she watched herself peel the wet suit down her hips, over the curve of her thighs, past her knees. She stepped out of it, one perfectly controlled foot at a time, leaving the tiny black garment in a damp pile on the sand.
Naked. She was completely, utterly naked on a crowded public beach.
