Pokemon Possession - Unova

You awake to an uncharacteristically early phone call from Bianca.

"Urgh... morning!" you groaned.

"Hi!" Bianca chirped. "Hey, listen, can you come by my work real quick? We've come up with something really cool!"

Then, she quickly hung up. Her work, huh? She was an assistant to Prof. Juniper in Nuvema. So, you flew over there.

"Ian, good to see you!" Juniper called when you walked in. "Bianca called you, right?"

You nodded. Then, you saw Bianca waving at you from across the lab. After exchanging some pleasantries, you ask about this cool new thing.

"Um... well it's actually not here, it's in the Dreamyard..."

"Could we have met there" you asked.

"I guess so..." Bianca smiled. "But you haven't visited here in ages!"

The three of you set off to the Dreamyard. It isn't too far, but you still would have preferred to fly.

It had definitely been cleaned up pretty nice from the last time you had been here. No more dilapidated structure, or dirt or broken stones. It was a full-blown lab again. Already waiting at the door for you was Dr. Fennel. She wore her usual lab coat over a pink dress, and was smiling warmly.

"Welcome!" she said as she waved you all in. "We've got something super exciting here!"

She pulled everyone over to a huge contraption which was covered in a black cloth. With a dramatic swing of her hand, she removed the cloth revealing a complicated-looking machine connected to a huge vat. The vat, of course, had a giant Munna drawn on it.

"That's er... fascinating." Juniper said. It really just looked like a mess of cables, boxes and metal.

"Oh that's nothing. This is just an engine. The real fun is this." Fennel motioned to a small screen nearby.

"And that is..."

"I call it a Soul Link!" Fennel exclaimed.

"A what?"

"Oh, it's a super fancy piece of tech. It uses dream power to let someone actually experience life as someone else!"

A crowd of blank stares greeted Fennel.

"It lets whoever is using it essentially swap bodies with someone."

More blank stares.

"Oh fine, maybe a demo then. Bianca, come here please."

Bianca obliged. You watched as Fennel brought something up on the screen. She tapped away at it until you could see a profile picture of Juniper.

"Now, tap this button here."

Bianca did. Some very faint pink smoke appeared around her head, as well as Juniper's. If you hadn't been looking for it, you doubted you would have even noticed.

"Wha..?" Juniper said. "Why am I over here? Wait... IS THAT ME?" she screamed, looking at Bianca.

"Fascinating indeed..." Bianca said. "Fennel, this is amazing!" She pinched her hand. "And sensations carry over too!"

"Wait... we really swapped bodies!" Juniper exclaimed. Or rather, it was Bianca inside Juniper, and vice versa.

"So how would you undo this?" Bianca asked.

"Simple! Just push the button again!"

Bianca tapped the button, shook her head, and looked down at herself. "Phew, I'm back!"

"You've really outdone yourself this time, Fennel." Juniper said.

"Thank you!" Fennel replied. "Now, Ian. We did invite you for a reason. This has the potential to be some dangerous tech, as you can imagine."

You nodded.

"We want you to take it and guard it."

"It's portable?" You asked.

"Well... we haven't tested that part yet, but in theory..." Fennel took a small chip out of the screen, and showed it to you. "Your c-gear, please".

You handed it over, and she opened the back, sticking in the weird chip.

"Alright, so there are two modes. You just saw two-way, there's also a one-way mode where your body go to sleep while you inhabit your target. Oh, and you can deactivate it from the c-gear of your target."

Not sure why you had been given this powerful ability, but not about to complain either, you just thanked Fennel.

So now what? You could test it out immediately, or go sleep on it.
