What are you willing to do for your village?
Introduction
The premise of this story is extremely flexible. 'A nationalistic character is willing to do anything to make his village stronger' is a character that can be inserted into any village and has a major impact on the story direction.
Let's take a MC born in Kumo, for example. Kumo had tried to kidnap Hinata when she was three to get a new bloodline- the Byakugan- during the Hyuga Affair (link: https://naruto.fandom.com/wiki/Hy%C5%ABga\\\\\\\\_Affair). We know that this isn't an outlier for Kumo because they also tried to kidnap Kushina, Naruto's mom, a generation earlier to get the Uzumaki clan.
A MC from Kumo will continue their ambitions, and probably turn their attention abroad immediately. If you refer to the map below, they might travel across the Kaizoku Sea to Kiri. This way, they can steal bloodlines while the country is distracted by the civil war.
The MC might also head to Konoha to reattempt Hinata, or they might take the short distance to the Land of Snow into account and cross the Gaikotsu Bay to study advanced technology.
From that blurb, we can identify some targets that a Kumo MC might be interested in: Hinata and Hanabi Hyuga, Mei Terumi, and Koyuki Kazahana. If you don't recognize that last name, she's the damiyo of the Land of Snow (link: https://naruto.fandom.com/wiki/Koyuki\\\\\\\\_Kazahana).
Imagine the contrast between between the Kumo MC and a Konoha MC. The Konoha MC won't be going after Hinata or Hanabi because Konoha has a thriving Hyuga clan. They don't need more Hyuga's, so taking them won't accomplish anything.
A Konoha MC is likely to be more interested in domestic affairs. Konoha already has a lot of clans, but some of them- the Senju and Kurama Clan's off the top of my head- are on the verge of going extinct. Reviving them might be something he is interested in.
A second thing a Konoha MC might focus on is . The story begins a few years after the Sand-Sound invasion, after all. on those two villages might appeal to a nationalist.
From those two, we get a list of women (Tsunade, Temari, Yakumo Kurama, Karin Uzumaki) that is distinct from the Kumo MC. See what I mean?
To that end, the first chapter is the directory. It contains story ideas, as well as links to branching story lines.
