Outbreak of Lust

An unknown pathogen turns people into sex-starved zombies

Chapter 1 by SilentMelon SilentMelon

The exact nature of the disease/infection was largely unknown. No one could tell where it began or who the first carrier was. And with most of society in chaos, it was doubtful that they would ever find out.

As it is, much of the population is infected. It is transmitted through sexual contact, and at first the symptoms appear to be similar to a mild aphrodisiac. Upon infection, the subject feels heightened arousal and a higher capacity for performance. However, the condition does not get appear to become progressively worse until the infected subject repeatedly engages in intercourse with other heavily infected individuals. As the infection becomes more prominent, the subject loses more of their will and the effects become significantly harder to resist and satisfy by normal measures. Once the subject has reached a certain degree of infection, they appear to simply lose all higher thought processes and become solely focused on infecting others through sexual contact.

Currently, the only known way to prevent the infection from spreading or worsening is by using a condom. However, males with 100% infection are known to be extremely rough during intercourse and the chance of the condom not tearing is known to be significantly less than in the case of a healthy, or relatively healthy, male. Genital fluids are the only confirmed sources of an infected’s body that seem to transmit the disease. Blood and saliva samples had not had a chance to be tested before the outbreak truly began to take its toll on the population, and various individual reports have thus been inconclusive.

Those with a minor or relatively easy to control infection are seeming able to have sex with other people and not spread infection, although that might just be because the pathogen is not able to be properly monitored. The general rule is that the harder it is for a person to resist their sexual urges, the more infected they are and the more likely it is that they’re contagious.

The city you presently reside in is not especially big or small. There's a mall and a college campus where some of the most intelligent young minds in the entire country go, but its far from anything especially big. Other than the mall and the college, there's not too much worth noticing in the town, although that could be because you're new to the place or you just didn't care enough to bother learning where everything is. Or it could be for an entirely different reason altogether.
