Not My Type... Or Is She?
The Unlikely Love Story of an Aunt and Nephew
Chapter 1
by Vytorica
So here I was, moving into Aunt Lyn's place. The small but comfy house had a minimalistic vibe going on, which was fine by me. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms - nothing too fancy. Her room and mine were the same size, but hers had a bathroom and closet attached while mine had a queen-sized bed, desk, and chair. It used to be her friend's room before. As we finished up with my room, Aunt Lyn led me down the hallway to show off her own space. "Nothing too exciting here," she said casually as we stepped inside. Just a simple double and nightstands. A small TV on top of the dresser played some random news channel. Family photos decorated the shelves, giving it a personal touch. Next up was the lounge room. The walls were painted a soothing shade of gray, with a big couch facing a flat-screen TV. A coffee table sat in the center, surrounded by mismatched chairs. "Feel free to make yourself at home here," Aunt Lyn said, gesturing towards the couch. The house may not have been fancy or extravagant, but there was something about its simplicity that felt appealing. As we settled down on the couch for a bit, I couldn't help but notice how good it felt to be surrounded by family and warmth again. "So, Connor," Aunt Lyn began, her voice low and calm. "I've noticed you've been stressed out lately. Is there anything you want to talk about? You know I'm here for you." I took a deep breath, appreciating her offer. "Thanks, Aunt Lyn," I said honestly. "It's just been a lot going on lately, and moving here is kind of a fresh start for me. But I really appreciate having you and this place to come back to." She placed a comforting hand on my shoulder. "Of course, Connor. You know I'll always be here for you." Her voice was reassuring, and I could see the sincerity in her eyes. It felt good to have someone like Aunt Lyn in my life. As we continued chatting and catching up, a strange but exciting energy started building between us.

It's been a little over a month since my parents were killed in that terrible car crash. Now orphaned, I'm to move in with my Aunt Marilyn, my mother's younger sister. I've seen her a handful of times over the years, but we've never been especially close. Still, I'm grateful to have somewhere to stay while trying to get my life back on track.
