New Years reunion

Chapter 1 by yellowcow yellowcow

Jim's grin was unstoppable as he reached the first escalator leading into the airport waiting area, looking about wildly for Cathy, for any sign of her short boy-cut hair or glowing smile. He couldn't see her anywhere as he descended, wanting, toying with his phone in his pocket but wanting to delay, to have the magic of just seeing her.

Suddenly a whistle known so well came out of the chattering crowds, and he spun around to see Cathy running towards him, travel backpack bouncing comically behind her, soft angelic face smiling so sincerely. She crashed into him and he spun her around, kissing passionately, teeth pulling at lips, arms wandering around each others shoulders and backs as if they were naked and alone. She was wearing a dress he loved, the light white sundress with a gigantic yellow flower printed on it, and he shoved his hand between her backpack and firm back to press her into him.

The two held fast for a time - It was hard to know how long, nothing else seemed to matter. But eventually, between smiles and random trivia about their plane rides and kisses, they walked off to the ground transport, holding hands, back into Chicago. In your mid-twenties even a yearly return to a town seems like a lifetime, and not having seen each other in months just made it that much more intense.

They get on the train, but where are they going?
