My New Gift

I rush out of my bed when my alarm goes off. It's my 18th birthday has finally arrived and I couldn't wait to see what the day way going to be like. My friends were going to surprise me, with what, I don't know. As for my sister, all she gave me was a card and a "Happy birthday, loser!"

My mom told me to behave at school, and her present would be ready after school. Since my Dad was on a business trip he could not avoid, he left his on the kitchen table. Inside the neatly wrapped box, was a note, and a necklace. The note said, " Dear Son, I'm sorry I couldn't be there to say 'happy birthday,' but here is your present anyway. Enjoy!"

The necklace was a gold chain, with a crystal hanging from it. When I put it around my neck, the crystal started to glow, and I began to feel weird. My sister was about to leave, so I had to hurry, or I'd have to take the bus.
