Stories of werewolves

Chapter 1 by Keeyoah Keeyoah

In folklore, a werewolf, or lycanthrope, is a person who shape-shift into a wolf via methods of witchcraft. Folklore tells stories of benevolent, almost heroic werewolves who use their magic to perform good in the world. But as with all things people love, these werewolves were demonized, called creatures of evil and the stories began to change. Kind wolf guardians became demonic hunters of the night.

Throughout history, stories of werewolves have both excited and chilled audiences, appearing as mystical warriors or as terrifiers in scary movies. The werewolf is a staple of modern supernatural media alongside their cousins the vampires.

Today a lycanthrope is a very different creature, a man or woman cursed by misfortune, to undergo a hideous transformation into a monstrous beast that hungers for the flesh of other humans. Lycanthropes today typically do not hold control over their animal forms, though there are exceptions. It is not uncommon to see Werewolves today who harken back to classic folklore, cursed humans who have control over themselves in their wolf forms, becoming enhanced versions of themselves with wolfish features.

Werewolves are a popular subject of supernatural stories, and here we will gather stories of them, from cursed men to witch women, here we will collect stories of people who by the light of the moon show a more bestial nature, people who may try to hide what they are, or may embrace it. And not just werewolves, for today’s lycanthrope is a varied creature, appearing as many sorts of animals. Here we will gather the fearsome, the hungry, the terrifying, but also the wholesome, the soft, and the ones who just need headpats.

So, sit by the fire, make a s’more, and indulge in a few Moonlight Tales
