Losing Yourself

Can You Stay True to Your Wife?

Chapter 1 by FlightoftheBeers FlightoftheBeers

I woke up in a cold sweat; something isn't right in here. This is my room, but as I look over in my bed, my wife, Kendra, is not there. Kendra and I had been married for a few years now. We met back in college during my Junior year - her Sophomore year - and a few years later, we got married. At this point in our lives, we were both around the same age; her at 26 and me at 28. She was a slender, redheaded beauty with eyes as green and deep as a forest. Her innocent, freckled face betrayed her sultry countenance once we were in bed together. However, the woman I love doesn't seem to be here.

"Kendra?" I called out, getting out of bed, in naught but my boxers. The air had a cold stillness to it. Despite it being around ninety degrees outside, it being a nice, warm Texas summer, the air outside was musky and hot. Yet, for some reason, there was a cool breeze that made the hair on my neck stand on end. I carefully walked over to the bedroom door when I heard a cute giggle from behind it. "Honey?" I called out before opening the door.

Suddenly, I found myself in a lush, green field. A short distance away, a blond woman in a green dress sat at a picnic table under a large oak tree. Carefully, I walked over, curious and unaware of my state of undress. "Uh... hello?" I meekly inquired, waving tepidly. She turned to me with a soft, warm smile.

"Ah, John," she began, motioning her hand to the other side of the table. "I have been waiting for you. Please, sit down and I will explain everything." I did not see any other choice but to do as she said. Shrugging my shoulders, I sat opposite her, taking in her beauty. She was what I imagined a Disney Princess would look like in real life. Her blond hair flowed down to her lower back, covering the rear of her simple, yet refined gown. Her blue eyes seemed to be searching my soul for something - or at least, that's how I perceived it.

"Welcome to my realm within your dreams. I'm sure you're rather confused, but I'm afraid I must keep this short. You see, I am Luci, a Lust Goddess. Every so often, we gods and goddesses decide to have some fun with you mortals. We choose champions, as it were, to fight for us in various ways. You have been chosen by me," she smiled softly as she took a sip of her tea. "What this means for you is that you will have the blessing of lust placed upon you. Women that look at you will seek to have you. They will try anything they can to make you theirs. Unfortunately for you, should you give in to them too much, you will become theirs. I want to see the effects of lust on man. Will your give in to these women and betray your marriage vows? Or will you stay strong and remain committed to your wife? I am excited to see what happens. "

This was... a lot to take in. A goddess basically wanted to toy with my wife and I's life for fun? This was quite the gamble, but it didn't seem like I had a choice. From her words, I didn't think this was an offer, but rather a warning. And I was right. I did not get a chance to question her or complain as the world suddenly spun around me, fading into black. Soon enough, I was back in my bed at home, my wife Kendra asleep next to me. Was that all just a dream?

By the morning, the odd dream was out of my head. My wife had left for work already, so I poured myself a cup of coffee and made breakfast before heading off to work. I ran my own law office, allowing me to be my own employer; it was nothing too fancy. I wasn't one of those giant, magnificent ones you see on TV. I took standard cases, like divorces, criminal trials, and what have you. As boring as that might seem to some, I enjoyed it. Not only that, but it paid the bills quite nicely. While that was fun and all, having my own office and secretary was my favorite part. I was beholden to no one but myself. Anyways, after gathering my stuff and getting dressed, I left for work.

Who do you run into at work first?
