Life Hacker

Anyone who wants to add to this story go for it. I want to see what you guys come up with for this story, which will probably be better than my ideas, and with me being a nerd student I don't exactly have the experience to write sex scenes well.

‘That is the last fucking pointless problem I will fix for some idiot!’ you shout to no one as you get home to your shitty single person apartment from another painful day at work. Your job as customer tech helper could be fun occasionally, when someone who has a brain and knows how to use a computer has a problem, but the world has too many idiots for it to be tolerable.

You go to play some games to take your mind off it, but your controller has gone missing. No, not missing. There’s still a shadow on the table where you left it this morning. Invisible? But how was it making a shadow? You reach out to pick it up, and as soon as you touch it it suddenly becomes visible again.

‘Was the texture missing or something?’ you joke to yourself. Yet the more you thought about it the more it seemed like that was what happened. Somehow, you had proved that we are in the matrix, just from picking up your controller.

Unlike probably the majority of people, this discovery doesn’t send you down a rabbit hole of questioning the meaning of life ending with you crying in the corner for the next 5 hours after figuring out that we don’t actually know we exist. Since you’ve always been more of an opportunist than an existentialist, your first response is ‘how do I get admin permissions to edit the source code of our current reality?’

You’ve always found computer security to be a fascinating field, and with your job you had to get pretty good at hacking into computers because of the fuckwits who decide it’s a good idea to not give you the password.

It took a while, but wasn’t too hard. Honestly, the hardest part was finding a way to get a glitch that you could use to get through to the code. It’s all written in a surprisingly intuitive language, and for the first time ever you thank whoever made this for putting comments into their code.

Now that you have admin access to reality, the only thing left to figure out is what you’ll do with this.
