Jana's Bad Week

Girl has a bad week

Chapter 1 by BronzePlaceWriter BronzePlaceWriter

Jana woke up slowly, the sun filtering through the blinds of her house. She yawned, stretching her arms like a cat stretching in the light. The blankets which she had pulled up around her felt so good, she almost didn't want to get up. Saturday...it was Saturday, right? She didn't need to be anywhere important. She could just lay here and sleep all day if she wanted to.

The idea had a certain kind of charm, the kind mostly felt by lazy twenty-somethings as they pondered a day spent relaxing and sleeping. She was tired, university was a bitch, and she had been working all week. Maybe it was right that she finally got some time to herself.

Yeah. That sounded pretty good.

She yawned again, and fought the urge to settle down and go back to sleep. There was probably something she had to do; there usually was. She was the star of the campus, after all. Gorgeous and intelligent, her auburn hair falling to her knees; always well kept and immaculate. She took great pride in her hair, as well as the rest of her body too. Maybe it was true that her boobs weren't as big as some of the other girls, and maybe she wasn't a slut like others. But hell, she used what she had well. Long legs, slender and curved, a tanned body, well toned and slim. Breasts which, while not the biggest, at least were still visible, and a pair of piercing green eyes, which often made people feel like she was more intelligent than she strictly speaking actually was.

She herself up, dangling her legs over the side of the bed. Her hair was a fuzzy mess, and her eyes were coated in dust from her long sleep. Her head felt kind of weird, like it did sometimes when she slept for much longer than she really should have.

Jana stood up slowly, blinking in the light as though she might fall back down at any moment. The sleep was retreating now, the memories of Friday returning. Vague, but growing stronger. At any moment, she was sure she'd remember absolutely everything. No need to rush it, best to treasure the blissful ignorance at the start of what would probably be a frantic day. She was the university idol, after all. There were so many things she had to do, even when it was a supposedly free day. Attend events, meet people, chat with students. All just to maintain her reputation. It was tiresome, and yet, she knew that to fail in this eternal dance, or to falter even once could see her cast down. She wouldn't have that. She'd worked hard to be where she was. That was right, all the way back in High School, Jana Moris had seen the social structure emerging and decided she knew exactly where she wanted to be. Right at the top. And she'd been there too, enduring as years passed by and more faces than she cared to remember fought for, won and lost the same prize.

It was all down to how you acted. How you looked. How you presented yourself. To the boys, she was a long-legged goddess who might favor them with a smile, or a knowing smirk. Brush her hair with one hand while looking at them, just to give them a buzz. They loved it, she knew. So long as she pretended that she actually cared about them, she'd have their support to the end of the earth. To the girls, she was a queen. Practised and refined from a decade of survival. No one would mess with her, because she had contacts, and she had ways. Painstakingly learned and perfected over the years.

Everything had led her right here. To her current position as top of the university, and now the future was looming, and she was looking forwards to what life would give her next. A job, perhaps, or even a career. It didn't matter, because she knew that wherever she went, she'd still be in charge.

It was nothing personal. Just the way of the world.

She smirked into the mirror beside the bed as she combed her hair carefully. Forcing it back into place, sleek and shining. A tool. A tool to maintain her power. She was good at this, and had been for some time. Why, she couldn't even remember a time when she hadn't been top of the school, collage or university.

That day, Jana was intending to do something. What was it?
