Hypocrisy

Robin and John are going to dinner with their eldest daughter, Hailey, and finally getting to meet her new boyfriend. For months they’ve been hearing about this amazing man named Jackson that seems to have swept Hailey off her feet. Robin and John are sitting at the restaurant anxiously awaiting Haileys arrival. “Do you think we’ll like him?” She asks. “I don’t know hun…as long as he’s treating her well and she’s happy I don’t see why we wouldn’t. “I guess you’re right…” Robin says as she nervously sips her cocktail. Just then she looks up and sees Hailey walk in. She gasps and squeezes Johns hand. “Honey…look….” Robin says and John looks up. “Um….hi…nice to meet you. I’m John, this is my wife, Robin.” He says as he shakes Jackson’s hand. Jackson shakes back and greets them in return. Robins mouth hangs open in shock as she also shakes his hand. She stares in awkward shock at the 6’5” frame and big toned muscles. His stature isn’t what has Robin and John flustered. It’s the fact that his skin is as black as coal. Hailey looks so small next to him. She barely stands 5’2 and is maybe 110 pounds soaking wet. Robins shock remains as they shake hands. She can easily fit three of her hands inside his massive paw. Her stunned silence continues as she sits back down. With the introductions complete, dinner continues with more conversation but both Robin and John tip toe around the elephant in the room. After about two hours and a few cocktails, everyone says their goodbyes and head out. “When will we see you again hun?” John asks his daughter. “I finish my exams on Tuesday and I’ll be home for break after that.” She tells him. He kisses her cheek and Hailey hugs her mother and they all head back to their homes. “What in the actual fuck was that?!?” Robin says flustered. “I don’t know babe but I’m not happy at all. Why is she with him?!? He’s nice enough I guess…but still. I do not want our daughter being with a black man. No no no….” John rants. “I’m with you babe! We’ve got to put a stop to this. She’s entirely too young to get mixed up with him…” Robin continues as she shifts uncomfortably in her seat for the rest of the drive home.
