"Transmen" On Women's Teams
Largely, at least until lately, there have been leagues for men's sports and separate leagues for women's sports. You see them in high school and college and there has been some occasional male athletes claiming they are "Trans", identifying as female in order to increase their chances at stardom by competing against women.
Since the WWBA, the Women's World Basketball Association as opposed to the WBA, World Basketball Association for men, decided that it should be inclusive of biological men who identify as female and allow them to play in the WWBA, our story begins.
After a stellar, eight year career in the WBA as a six foot, ten inch tall forward with a good jump shot and a devastating right hand hook shot, retired 31 year old Jamal Johnson publicly declared himself a woman. "I am a woman!" He stated to a gaggle of sports reporters. "I hereby submit my name, JaMalia Johnson, to be eligible for the upcoming WWBA draft." The tall but thin black, bald, bearded man continued, "I want to thank the WWBA for this opportunity for me to continue to play professional basketball. Thank you."
....Some weeks later, the announcement: "With the number one pick in this year's WWBA draft, the New York Queens choose JaMalia Johnson!"...
On the designated reporting date, Jamal entered the Queens' team headquarters to sign the contract, receive a uniform, get the tour and orientation. As he approaches the receptionist's desk, the attractive woman behind it inquires, "Hello! How may I direct you, Sir?" "Uh, I'm the number one draft pick in the whole league, JaMalia Johnson." "Oh!" She apologizes, "I'm so sorry I didn't recognize you, Ms. Johnson. Please take a seat. I'll get you an escort." He thanks her and sits in one of the waiting area chairs as any man would, relaxed with one foot almost underneath and the other leg stretched out straight, resting on the heel of his foot.
"Miss Johnson!" A rather beefy looking woman had emerged from a door behind the receptionist and called again, "Miss Johnson!" ..."Oh!" After a brief hesitation, "I'm JaMalia Johnson." He answers while standing to approach her. "Hello Miss Johnson. I'm Adrianna." She looks up at him. " It is my job to guide you to your new career in the WWBA. Please follow me." The clipboard wielding fire plug of a woman led him into a small office with a desk and a chair on either side. She took one and motioned to the other, so he sat.
"Miss Johnson", She started, "I have your contract. As you can see it is for a few $million less than you last made in the WBA but still a healthy number. Before signing, look it over and pay attention to the compliance clause. I'll be back in a few minutes." She closed the door behind her.
After skimming the financial details, he comes to the compliance clause. It states, "I am a woman on and off the court. I will maintain a feminine appearance at all times while this contract is in effect. This includes clothes, hair, make up and jewelry. My personal WWBA leader will assist with my compliance to avoid any violations."
"Well, that seems easy enough." He says to himself and he signs the contract.
