Horizon: a Lack of Focus

It was only the day after the battle against Hades at the Spire that she first made contact. Aloy was sleeping soundly in her temporary home in Meridian while she waited for Talanah to tell her lodge about them. They had agreed to wait for them to make their relationship public before they moved in together. Talanah was on of the few people who she had shared the true nature of the world with. She had even begun to help hervrebuild Gaia. At least, before they hit a roadblock.

Aloy slept soundly, a soft smile on her face. Suddenly she was shot awake by a loud ringing from her Focus.

INCOMING CALL

Shown above her in holographic projection. Aloy reached out to tap the words, causing them to sweep out of her vision, an image of a tall, beautiful woman appearing on screen before her.

"Hello Aloy. Its a pleasure to finally speak with you. I am Dr. Ashley Rain."

"Um... hello? Can you hear me? Am I doing this right?"

"Youre doing just fine, pet. I am sorry to call you at such a late time but I was only now able to get a signal through to you. I can help you with Gaia."

"You can? How? Where are you? What do you need?"

"I can offer you access to a backup of her memory core. A way to restore her. Trouble is I need Alpha DNA. Your DNA, Aloy. Come to me and you can retrieve Gaia's memories, restore her at last!"

"Say no more! I'll leave tomorrow!"

"Excellent. Enjoy the rest of your night Aloy."

"Did we do it?"

"Yes. The virus is in. It'll begin to influence her thinking more and more. Our agents in the field will meet her and ensure she develops properly along her journey. By the time she gets here she wont care we lied to her. She wont care about anything we dont tell her to care about."
