Hope: New Beginnings

The year was 2038 when the earths 'united' government decided to plough everything they had into their 'Hope Program'. Things had gotten so bad on earth; the pollution, civil unrest, poor harvests, food shortages to name a few. Times where hard and getting into the Hope Program was most people's last chance at survival and real change, which is why the Osborne family had to make sure they where on that ship when it left.

Terry was the head of the family, at 49 years old he was only a year away from being in-eligible to join the programme, so the stakes where high. Terry was a well respected engineer, having worked in hydraulics most of his adult life so he put everything into his application and vetting process for Hope. There were no second chances, it all came down to this.

Terry's wife Gina who was younger than him at 38 years old, gained them a few extra points towards their application due to her age still being within fertile range which was a bonus, they needed all the points they could get. She wasn't exactly on-board (pardon the pun) with the idea of going to space, but with every day on Earth worsening, what other choice did she have? She knew she would miss her brother Sam who was her last remaining family and leaving him behind wasn't a choice she made lightly.

Emma was Terry and Gina's only child, having only just turned 18 and being gym fit, she almost gained as many points towards the program as Terry despite having zero qualifications.

Long story short, their application had been accepted and departure was set for just 3 months time after a very intense training and preparation course. Terry being an engineer had to go through more throughout training that was off-limits to most onboard but Gina and Emma did their training together which brought them close together than ever before. Gina had it twice as hard, knowing how ditsy Emma was, she had to make sure she knew EVERYTHING they needed to know, this program was way more important than any 18 year old could comprehend.
