Helpful Slug

A slug capable of entering people's brain suddenly enters your life

Chapter 1 by MonsterInNeed MonsterInNeed

I observed the weird glowing slug for a moment. It was laying down on its side as if dead but I could see movement under its translucent skin.

I had been looking online for the name of its species but nothing came up. I sighed and shook my head. The more I looked at this thing the stranger it seemed. I had found it in the garden after feeling some kind of compulsion to go outside and look around. As soon as I noticed it I dropped down on me knees with an intense desire to touch it. Weird, right? But even weirder than that, as soon as my finger made contact with the slug it started glowing and I felt a connection. It was like we were now linked by some invisible .

Now that creature was resting at the bottom of a jar on my desk and I was left wondering what the hell was going on.

"What the hell is that thing?" Someone asked from behind me.

I turned around only to find myself face-to-face with my step sister, Jenny, looking at me with a smirk on her pretty face.

Jenny and I had a weird relationship. She was constantly finding news ways to tease me or make fun of me. She never really crossed the line, but rather flirted with it. Making sure to annoy me whenever she got the chance but always retreating before I could really counter-attack. She was really smart, currently studying psychology at university. But most of all, she was smoking hot. With long red hair and eyes so green they almost glowed, you couldn't help but stare when she walked into a room. Her body was perfectly shaped; large breasts pushing against the fabric of whatever she wore, slim waist leading into tight hips which led to shapely legs. And not forgetting those full lips and her adorable little nose.

She however seemed completely oblivious to what kind of effect she had on me and other men. She seemed a hundred percent focused on her studies and career goals. If she ever had a boyfriend I wasn't aware of it.

"Earth to Simon." She said, smirking again. "Care to tell me what that thing is?"

"Never seen a slug before?" I asked back sarcastically.

She tilted her head at me while still smiling.

"Yeah well...it doesn't exactly look like any slug I've seen before," She replied calmly, getting closer to the jar.

She took hold of the lid and lifted it off. Inside lay the creature, pulsing slightly. Its glow brighter now.

"What are you doing with it anyway?" She asked curiously. "I didn't know you had an interest in gastropods."

"Gastro what?" I asked confused.

"Slugs, snails, molluscs..." She explained with a shrug.

"I just found it cool. The way it's glowing and stuff. I thought I'd try to figure out what it was."

She nodded at me, looking over the creature once more.

Suddenly, it jerked up and landed on her hand. It slithered extremely quickly across her skin, leaving a trail of light in its wake. A second later she screamed and jumped backwards.

"Get that thing away from me! Get it the fuck away!" She yelled, trying to rub at her arm but failing miserably.

The thing was now sliding along her neck and getting closer to her face.

I jumped forward as fast as possible, grabbing the jar from the desk and moving toward Jenny. But the thing was faster than me. I saw it enter her ear as she screamed.

And then, as it vanished inside her skull, she became motionless, a little bit of blood dripping from her ear.

"Jenny?!" I cried as I tried shaking her awake.

I pulled her onto my bed and laid her down. I grabbed my phone and was about to call 911 when she suddenly gasped. Her eyes opened wide and she looked at me with a dazed expression.

"Jenny? Are you alright?" I asked worried.

She raised her arms and looked at her hands in awe.

"Jenny?" She mumbled. "Yes. I'm Jenny."

She then looked towards me and smiled.

"And you're Simon. My dork of a brother." She added with a laugh.

I couldn't help but smile at her response. I was relieved to see her okay. But I was also a little shocked. That thing was still inside her head.

"We need to call an ambulance to get that slug out of you." I said, focusing my attention towards my phone once more.

"No! Wait!" She screamed. "Don't! I wont hurt her!"

I looked at her with confusion.

"Who?" I asked.

"Me!" She exclaimed. "Jenny! Her! It's confusing!"

She hold her head between her fingers and started rubbing her temples.

"What the fuck is going on here?" I asked.

She looked at her hands again, then stood up and watched her reflection in the mirror in front of my bed.

"You touched me, in the garden." She said. "I remember it."

I was freaking out. There was no way Jenny knew what happened that night. She was staying with some friends.

"I don't understand." I told her.

"I'm the slug... I think." She replied. "But I feel like I'm Jenny too. I'm inside her brain. I can feel her thoughts. I can see her memories."

I stared at her, dumbfounded.

"It's so weird. Before I entered her I was... simple." She said. "I couldn't think. Now I think, but not really. I think Jenny is doing the thinking for me. I'm using her brain like... Like a pilot would fly a plane. I can't fly by myself, but the plane can."

She ran her hand through her hair, pushing it behind her ears and giggled.

I gulped. She was really acting the way she used to, but yet she wasn't. This was extremely weird.

"It feels amazing having a mind and a body." She said.

I blinked a few times at her words.

"So...you're possessed?" I asked.

"I am... I guess... Or rather she is... Right now the frontier between Jenny and me is very blurry." She replied. "But I can see it all."

"See what?"

"See the paths the thoughts go through." She explained. "I can follow them, change them if I want."

She stared at her reflection one last time, looking at her body, and then turned towards me, all of a sudden.

"You!" She almost shouted. "I feel a connection towards you."

"You are my step-sister." I mumbled.

"No, that's not it! I can feel Jenny's connection to you, as a sister. But this is different. I could feel it before I merged with her."

I recalled the feeling that got me out of bed the previous night and straight to the creature. The feeling when I touched it and it started to glow.

"What are you?" I asked.

"I don't know. I just know it's connected to you somehow."

I sat there, staring at her, trying to process it all.

"What do you want?" She asked me.

"What do you mean?"

"I feel like I should do what you want." She exclaimed, sitting down next to me on the bed. "It's my... purpose?"

She looked at me with a confused expression.

"Your purpose?" I asked.

"Yes. I'm supposed to be yours. To serve you."

I felt a shiver run down my spine. My sister was staring at me and telling me she was supposed to serve me. She might have been possessed, but it came out of her lips, with her own voice.

"I... I don't know if I can do that to my sister." I mumbled.

She looked lost in her thoughts for a moment.

"I can see everything on how her mind works." She said. "She knows that you are attracted to her."

I blushed.

"I... I'm not." I said.

"Yes you are, dork!" She exclaimed, pushing me just like the normal Jenny would. "She's seen how you look at her. But she prefers to ignore it. It makes her uncomfortable."

I looked away from her.

Suddenly, she dropped on the bed and started seizing.

"Jenny!" I screamed, grabbing her by the shoulders.

And then, she moaned and smiled.

"What the fuck?!" I exclaimed.

"Relax, dude." She said, opening her eyes and licking her lips "I think I just found something interesting."

"Did you just have an orgasm?" I asked, still shocked.

"I think so." She replied. "I I think I found how I can rewire her. It's pretty easy, actually."

I could not comprehend what was happening.

"This is fucking crazy." I shouted "You can't just walk around inside her brain. You are going to hurt her! You need to get out of here or I swear I'll have doctors remove you with scalpels!"

"Jeez! Calm down Simon!" She exclaimed, placing a hand on my shoulder. "I'm being very careful here. As I said I can feel every neuron inside her brain. I'm not breaking anything, I swear."

"You need to get out of her! Now!" I yelled.

"Alright! Alright!" She replied, pulling her hand off of me. "I'm getting tired anyway. It's a lot of work using such a big brain. But I'll leave you a little present. After all I feel like I need to please you."

"What are you..." I started before her head dropped backward and she fell .

I stared at her for a few seconds, more confused than ever.

And then I noticed it, the slug, coming out of her ear.

I quickly grabbed the jar and put it inside before closing the lid. The creature was now motionless, and its glow was extremely faint.

Jenny opened her eyes and looked at me with a frown.

"Did you seriously let me fall asleep on your bed?" She asked.

I stared at her.

"Are you alright?" I asked.

"Erm... Yeah? Why wouldn't I be?" She asked, sitting up.

I was relieved to see her awake and fine, without that thing crawling inside her head.

"The slug got inside your head. I was so fucking worried!"

She laughed.

"Sure... And I turned into a zombie and tried to eat your brain, right?" She joked.

"So you remember nothing?" I asked.

"Apart from falling asleep, no." She said, standing back up and shaking her head. "Or did we watch The Faculty again and I forgot?"

"Very funny..." I sighed.

"Anyway! Gotta go! I'm spending the night with Amanda. See you tomorrow, dork!"

She left my bedroom and closed the door.

I turned towards the jar that I was still holding in my hands. The slug was resting at the bottom. I could feel the connection between us, somehow stronger.

"What the hell is going on?" I said out loud.

The creature twitched.
