It was Day 0 of WeebCon 2020, one of the most highly regarded anime conventions in North America. The badge pickup line was bustling with activity; eager con-goers exchanged stories, heartfelt hugs and video game friend codes. Cosplayers struck proud poses and friend groups swapped schedules. Not John though. He had come alone.
This year, WeebCon had added a new feature to their VIP badge that he had initially not believed when he purchased it. For the duration of the convention he was a Harem Battler. His badge would allow for him to make demands of any and all non Harem Battler attendees (with some restrictions). Furthermore, we was allowed to officially "Recruit" three female attendees for his Battle Harem. On Day 3 of the convention, the harems would face off in a series of winner-take-all duels.
John couldn't wait.
The line moved at a snail's pace but he had brought several ways to distract himself. John was a huge mobile game addict. He played all of the big anime gacha games and even a few trashy western ones. From Fate Grand Order to Booty Farm, his phone was loaded with time wasting apps that featured cute 2d women.
Finally he was at the front of the line. A friendly, female voice called out "Next in line!" and he stepped forward.
