Guardian Angel

A good deed for a naughty one

Chapter 1 by chelseaboy chelseaboy

"Friday nights here in Albany in January sure aren't what we expected are they?" Dave looks at his roommate sitting at his computer. "Friday night our last year of college and one of us is downloading some porn and the other is about to walk to the hockey game by himself in a Nor'Easter not quite what we expected. " Justin simply shrugged and said "yeah I never expected to get a full length Jenna video in an hour." Dave just smiled simple old Justin not a care in the world, he wished he could be like that.

Dave would never admit it to anyone else but he was regretting pretty much every decision he had made the past four years. He never really got over the fact he agreed to brake up with his last girlfriend over the fact they would be 5 hours apart by car. She was a great girl, she was a sprinter down at her university in Pennsylvania, studying pre-Med. When he lost her, he lost his will to do pre-Med and also his will to do sports. He had been asked to play baseball as a walk on with the eye towards a scholarship after some of the seniors left.

Tonight seemed no different, as he was making the long walk up the hill to the field house he noticed an old lady trying to dig her car out of the snow. He decided to give her a hand and help shovel as he had a good 15 minutes to finish the short walk up the hill. He approached her and she simply asked if he could move some of the snow off the front of her drive way. He agreed and slowly started shoveling in the street. He was just about done when he heard a car's horn blaring. Looking up he saw a car sliding directly towards him. Thinking quickly he dove towards the street, next thing he knew he was on a sheet of ice sledding towards the intersection below. Acting quickly he reached out and grabbed at a light pole. Not feeling anything he reached up just in time to see the parked car make contact with his head.

Slowly opening his eyes he saw nothing around except a glowing person, figuring his glasses were just glaring cause of some snow he went to rub them. But he didnt find his glasses he felt his hand stop moving but didn't feeling anything. Come to think of it, he felt nothing at all, no pain, no cold, no wet, nothing. Trying to stand he quickly heard a voice.

"David, don't bother moving you aren't going anywhere."

Looking around he didn't see anyone talking and the voice didn't seem to be coming from the glowing person in front of him.

"Relax, I am here to help, you can call me your fairy grandmother if you want. I know things have been rough on you lately. That you wish you could change somethings around you and I am here to let that happen. You got hurt doing something noble so I was sent here to help."

Dave quickly wondered what was happening, but using what little he had learned he quickly summized that he must be in some sort of coma from the accident. Looking up he saw the telltale halo and staff. Great he thought what a cliche. But he decided to play along with this dream he didn't have much else to do.

"Okay, how about if you give me the power to change things around me so that I can have something go my way."

The person came closer, and Dave started to realize the halo and wand were just props. What emerged was a more like demon. Dave wasn't really frightened as a kid he had liked all the Demon/Vampire shows from the time Buffy, Angel, and Charmed. So he really wasn't spooked by this.

The demon got close and simply said, "I can give you that if you help me out first."

David not really believing this was really had no problem answering yes.

The demon only said this "You have your power all I hope for is that for whatever good you do, I don't mind just make sure you act upon all your guilty pleasures too. Save the world I don't care as long as you do what you want to do with these powers. If you don't they will be gone quicker than you can say splitting headache from slamming your head into a car."

Dave examined the demon more closely and realized it was much like two-face from Batman, one half good one half evil looking. Dave decided that while there was some catch, that a little power was better than the alternative. So he quickly agreed.

The demon with a smile simply said "Done." The next instant Dave was surrounded by a bunch of people including the old lady who was crying and simply repeating the word "Sorry!" Dave got up said he felt great noone could believe it but he asked if he still had time to make the game. They all said yeah he had about 5 minutes. WIth that he thanked everyone for his concern, but now he was off to watch the game. They all wished him well. On his way up he simply said I wish that lady never has to ask to me to shovel her out again.

As he continued walking up the hill he saw the ladies driveway appear to be shoveled to the point where it looked like the middle of summer. Shocked Dave stopped and quickly though about what just happened. He didn't want to believe what happened, but it was kind of fishy.

Go to the game or explore the power?
