Grenville High
Chapter 1

(Anyone can feel free to hope on in and add something to the story...so I hope you all enjoy!)
It was a rainy, miserably dreary day in Grenville. It was also a Monday, so perhaps nature was just expressing its dislike for Mondays too. Grenville High was crowded with kids, as usual, loitering in the halls or starting to wander off to their classes. When the five minute bell rang, they all began to move at last. Yet, running late, one boy slipped in the front doors of the school muttering a few choice words to himself when he heard a familiar voice call out to him.
“Derek!” The girl cried, hurrying up and giving him a friendly hug. Her smile beamed proudly, looking as if to return the saddest of people into a man amidst a world of joy. Derek, as the boy was named, gave a half-hearted hug back to his friend and gave her a bit of an odd look.
“Shouldn’t you be in class, Emily?”
“Yeah well…I was running a little late too. You’re not tardy yet though, you’ve still got a couple of minutes ‘till the bell rings. Crap! That means I better get running too…have to get to the band room.” Derek nodded and with a quick and friendly goodbye, the two parted ways. Derek was an oddity in the high school. He was someone that hung out with people from every ‘group’ in the school, (think populars, Goths, gamers, etc…), and yet was himself a bit of a loner. He’d few real friends, which surprised some of the ladies, as he wasn’t that bad a looker. Short brown hair (though somewhat messy today thanks to the rain!), deep, captivating brown eyes, an in-shape body and smarts to boot made him somewhat of a catch. There was something else strange about him…but we’ll come to that later.
Emily, the girl from earlier, was Derek’s best friend. One of the two, at any rate. Despite her appearance, she was a bit of a shy little thing, only really opening up to friends. She had long, fine, light brown hair, though she somewhat frequently dyed it other colors. Her eyes were caring and tranquil- blue like the ocean. She was pale and short at about 5’0”, and had about a c-cup going on for her breasts. She’d no boyfriend for the past three years, much to her displeasure. She was a flutist in the band- and yes, many, many jokes did stem from that.
Nevertheless, Derek headed up the stairs for his classroom. He didn’t have time to stop at his locker, and it looked like he was going to be late no matter what he did. Concentrating for a moment though, he quickly changed all that. Space and time around him froze, and he just casually strode towards his class, ending the odd effect only when he was within a few steps of his goal.
What does Derek do next?
