Generic Space Adventure 2525!!!

Welcome to the year 2525! Earth has been a member of a rich galactic community for 200 years now. Still fledgling by many species standards but well known and liked by the majority of galactic citizens.

Around 10,000 different sapient species exist in your resident galaxy, the Milky Way, spread across a million different habitable worlds, some much more habitable than others.

Technology has progressed to where with adequate energy and materials, food and most objects can be replicated, space ships are able to travel faster than light, moderate distance teleportation is a reality but these technologies are not free, some cost much more than others.

You have recently graduated from your local university on earth with a BA and Masters in general studies with minors in about 10 different fields. Along with your Space Pilots license and Astronavigation certification It’s taken you a ridiculous amount of time to complete your studies, your damn near 30 at this point... Fortunately with modern medicine your lifespan is about 250 years, give or take.

Your dream has always been to explore as much of this amazing Galaxy as possible before your time is up. With a well defined but arduous path in front of you, you start looking over job postings on the net for ship hands. You’ll start off as a janitor if you have to, and you probably will, at least part time. Star cruiser jobs were in low supply but also had low pay, many highly qualified individuals also had to take menial secondary jobs on ship. It wasn’t that odd to see an Engineer also treating injuries or the second officer moonlighting as a cook.

After applying to the third posting you find, you hear a knock at your door.

“What the hell?”, you think, “No one comes by without sending a ping, my net account’s been dead all morning.”
