Chapter 1 by penography penography

"In the year 2045 humanity is at the cusp of colonizing Mars, harnessing effectively limitless renewable energy and flying cars are an expensive, but increasingly common luxury. The limitations placed on humanity are being rapidly pushed aside as technology advances, but no limitations are as stern and unforgiving as our biologically limitations. That's were we come in, here at Gena we specialize in removing those limitations, our research has already led to the elimination of all STD's as well as numerous deadly diseases around the globe. From such a stunning start it's hard to imagine what comes next. Yet the possibility for breakthroughs increase each and every day, recently, with the passing of the 'Greener Futures Act' Gena has been given full rights to work on not only plants and domesticated animals but also with willing humans. A new greener future truly does await thanks to Ge~" the Feminine voice fades from your hearing as you remove the (Gena provided) headphones and pull your eyes up from the (Gena provided) tablet to look out your window into the city you're rapidly passing by.

Broken brick apartments pass by seemingly endlessly, each and every one worn down or rotting away in a different fashion, their dismal appearances only occasionally interrupted by the garish coloring of police tape. Elderly men and women peer through windows at the "urban youth" outside, smoking various illegal on their front porch, content that the police in the area will be in to much of a rush to do anything. No matter what happens, you don't think you'll miss this place. You're eye's catch sight of the Gena Technical Institute on the horizon, The bulky security perimeter does little to obscure the idyllic marble work of the dorms or the tall green trees that rise above the stale concrete walls.

Your attention is wrenched back to the utilitarian black design of the (Gena provided) tablet by a blinking red light on the screen. it appears your paperwork has been finalized as you skim through the text document, but it wants you to sign one last time next to your new position at the campus.

what is your new position? (and who are you?)
