From Halloween to Home

A lady and her costume adventure

Chapter 1 by zaick zaick

(After some hiatus, I've returned to writing. In light of having a more busy job life of, well, writing, I've decided to focus on actually finishing some of these scenarios rather than having the originally intended 50-100 endings. I've always intended to have a focus on choice, but honestly, I just don't have time for that. So! Over the next couple months expect my stories to actually have some finished choices, and I can expand from there. Thanks!)

Darcey loved Halloween. Even on this strangely humid fall night, she sported her best rendition of a witch, complete with detailed make-up and a fantastically elaborate hat. The party she went to was in a yoga studio - a wide open area with lots of drinks and cushions to lay around on. Anyone was able to crash there, as the transit shut down before midnight. There were two full bathrooms and a loud boombox - it was a fine enough time.

Darcey's Halloween was perfect. It was the next morning that was not. She had to get home, taking the transit back. She was not into the idea of wearing her witch costume on November 1st in broad daylight, and worse than that, she had class to get to later. Class never stopped her from experience Halloween, though. Instead, she brought a change of clothes in her bag, planned to wake a few hours before her class in the afternoon, make it home to change properly and get ready, and then go to work.

As she woke on November 1st in the corner of a yoga studio, she saw she was one of the last of a couple dozen others to wake. The owner of the studio, Mandy, was still there, likely the worst for wear, laying in a pile of cushions with a couple others.

Darcey saw she woke a little later than she would have liked, and decided to shower in the studio. Make-up removed, and her costume inside her bag kept neatly in the bathroom, she thought everything was fine, until when she left, it was gone.

Darcey was drying herself when she noticed. There was no bag here. No costume. She looked the bathroom up and down and saw nothing. She peeked her head out of the door. "Mandy?" She called.

There was some sounds, and a groan. Darcey stuck her head out further. "Mandy?"

"Who?"

"Is Mandy there?"

"I'm Mandy." There was another sound, and then the approach of bare feet. Darcey retreated a little back into the door again.

"Did you take my bag?"

"What?" Mandy was at the end of the hall now. "Your bag? Wait. Where was it?"

"Here. I was showering."

Mandy put her hands to her mouth. "Fuck."

"What?"

Mandy disappeared for a moment while Darcey called for her, then returned. "It's not here. Jessica took it."

"What?!"

"I'm so sorry! She was complaining she forgot her bag so I let her borrow my phone to track the transit since she was going to come back in three hours to get me after I cleaned the place up. Then she went to the bathroom and said she found it and went on out!"

"How could she mistake our bags?!"

"I don't know! Ask her!"

"I can't! The bag had my phone!"

"And she has mine."

"Why? Why didn't you take your phone back?"

"I was asleep! I don't know! She probably was too! Ugh. What's going on? What do you need?"

"My stuff, for one. Clothes, for another. A way to get to class, too!"

Many looked around. "I, well..." She scratched her head. "There are some leftover costumes here? Stuff people took off and stuff? Though if someone wants it back that'd be pretty bad that I lost it, you know?"

"My stuff was stolen!"

"Okay! Okay! Look, um, you can take something. Wear it for a while until we figure it out."

"I need to get to class. I can go home to change, but not like this!"

Mandy nodded and gestured Darcey to come out. "We're alone now, but people might come back looking for stuff."

Darcey stepped outside in her towel, looking around. "Who would come back for these crappy things?"

Mandy gathered leftover costumes from people who had... for some reason... took them off during the course of the party. Darcey thought of complaining and demanding something from Mandy, but then again, it was Jessica's fault. Darcey could not wait here, though. Mid terms were waiting.

"Really. I'm serious. Only take one, alright? I can explain one thing going missing if someone comes back, but a bunch? People will think I stole it. I'm running a studio here."

The first thing was a bunch of bandages. It was a lot to work with, likely for a bunch of bandaged injuries or perhaps a mummy costume. The bandages were not sticky and would have to be tied up, but it would cover Darcey's entire body. Still, it would be a lot of attention - a walking mummy in the middle of the day.

The second was a ballerina costume, complete with white gloves and tights. The tutu was poofy and designed not to stay down, which would not have been a problem with the leotard itself was not broken. Without the ability to stretch well, it would sit on Darcey like a tight black tank top. Not only would it look weird, but the tutu only covered a few inches of her thigh, and she had nothing underneath to work with.

The third was a vampire costume. It had fine fishnet gloves and a dress that was high collared with a small dip for cleavage. The issue was a slit on the slit on the side of the tight dress had gotten torn, bringing reveal of leg to above the hip on the left side. It covered everything at least, and would look almost normal - like a vampire on a walk normal.

There was a martial arts gi, which was the equivalent of a pair of pants much too loose for Darcey, and a long shirt open in the front, but folded over itself and tucked into a belt. The belt was rather stiff and clearly not made for long term wearing being the cheap costume it was, and Darcey doubted it would do much for the pants, especially since the pants had no loop - the belt was meant to be worn outside the whole thing, and likely not very stiffly done. It was at least not completely abnormal, she could say.

Beyond that, there was a nurse costume. One of those trademark sexy nurse costumes that was too tight and too short. It zipped in the front, although the zipper stopped at mid cleavage, and the bottom of the dress only went a few inches past her waist. There was also a small apron attached to it, like that did anything. It would not pass for the real thing, unless of course this was the 60s suddenly, though at first glance it would at least not be too revealing.

The last thing was a kimono. It was not a real one - at least in the sense that it was properly cut and arranged. In fact, it was more or less a fancily designed slightly silky robe. The bottom of it went down to her knees and the belt worked well enough. It was a little large for her, and she did not know how to properly tie a kimono, but it was a lot of cover.

Which does Darcey take?
