Friendship must Come First
Prologue
Chapter 1

In the morning, three friends sat down in their chairs.
"Good morning, Jane," Paul greeted her softly, his voice barely audible over the class noise.
Jane said hi to Paul and asked if he was excited for another day at school.
"Sure," Paul replied, a small grin forming on his lips. He had always admired Jane's infectious energy and how she brightened even the most mundane of days.
The teacher asked the students to calm down and pay attention while she wrote on the board.
When the teacher started talking, Paul didn't pay attention because he was thinking about prank he could do to his friend Jane. He liked making her laugh and it made him feel good.
He quietly took a fake snake out of his bag and put it on Jane's desk while she was working. Then he sat back and tried not to laugh.
Paul, what are you doing? Jane was about to ask, but before she could finish, she noticed a toy snake on her desk. She got scared and moved away quickly, making the teacher and other kids look at her.
The teacher asked Jane if everything was okay because she looked worried.
She said "yes" while sounding nervous and her face turned red because she was embarrassed. She explained that she was just surprised.
She smiled and laughed with Paul, and everyone felt better.
The teacher wanted to continue teaching and wasn't too upset about Paul's joke because she knew it wasn't harmful.
Paul felt happy because his prank worked and made Jane laugh. Even the teacher thought it was funny. Even though Paul is shy, he likes having fun with his friends.
He didn't just enjoy making Jane laugh or doing pranks, he liked how close they were as friends. That feeling was really special to him and he wouldn't want anything else instead..
The school bell rang, signaling the end of another class. Ken gathered his books and glanced out the window, taking a moment to appreciate the sunlight filtering through the leaves before leaving the room. As he walked down the hallway, he could hear Jane's laughter echoing through the corridors, her cheerful disposition infectious.
"Ken!" Jane called, her voice drawing him from his thoughts. He turned to see her bounding towards him, Paul trailing behind with an amused smile. "Mrs. Lopez wants to talk to you about your test results! She was really impressed!"
"Thanks for letting me know," Ken replied, a hint of pride in his tone. Mrs. Lopez was one of their favorite teachers, known for her passion for education and dedication to her students. To receive praise from her meant something special.
"Of course! And Paul, no more pranks today, okay?" Jane teased, poking him playfully in the ribs. Paul feigned innocence, but the twinkle in his eyes betrayed him. Despite his quiet nature, there was a mischievousness to him that Jane brought out, and it was something she reveled in.
"Alright, I'll see you guys later," Ken said, heading towards Mrs. Lopez's classroom. As he walked away, he heard Jane's laughter once more and couldn't help but smile. She had this uncanny ability to brighten even the darkest of days, and he cherished that aspect of her.
Upon entering Mrs. Lopez's room, Ken found her sitting behind her desk, flipping through a stack of papers. Her dark hair was pulled back into a neat bun, and her glasses perched on the bridge of her nose. She looked up at his arrival, her face lighting up with a warm smile.
"Ah, Ken, I'm glad you came by," she began, gesturing for him to take a seat. "I just wanted to commend you on your outstanding performance on the recent exam. Your analytical skills and attention to detail were truly exceptional."
"Thank you, Mrs. Lopez. I appreciate your kind words," Ken replied, his cheeks flushing slightly from the praise.
"Keep up the good work, Ken. You have a bright future ahead of you," she encouraged, giving him a nod of approval before returning to her papers.
Feeling a renewed sense of motivation, Ken left the classroom and rejoined Jane and Paul in the courtyard.
Evan Jane had many friends at school, she always seemed happiest when it was just the three of them – a sentiment both Ken and Paul shared.
Ken couldn't help but think about how much he appreciated these moments.
"Hey guys!" Jane's voice rang out from behind them, bursting with cheerfulness. Before they could react, she had thrown her arms around their shoulders, hugging both Ken and Paul from behind. They formed a snug, mismatched trio – Ken on the left, his face awash with embarrassment; Paul on the right, a mischievous glint in his eye; and Jane in the middle, the glue that held them together.
"Jane, you're gonna make us trip," Ken muttered, trying to hide the shyness he felt as Jane's ample chest pressed against his arm. He could feel the warmth radiating from her body, causing his heart to race faster than he'd like to admit.
"Aw, don't be such a worrywart, Kenny," Jane teased, playfully squeezing him tighter. "We're just having fun!"
Paul, always seeking an opportunity for a prank, decided to take advantage of their close presence. maintaining an image of innocence, he grinned and gave Jane's buttocks a firm slap. She gasped in surprise, her grip momentarily loosening around their shoulders.
"Paul!" Jane exclaimed, feigning anger while suppressing a laugh. She reached forward and delivered a light smack to the top of his head. "You're so incorrigible sometimes."
"Guilty as charged," Paul admitted, rubbing his head and grinning widely. The corners of Ken's mouth turned up into a **** smile as well, unable to resist the infectious joy of the moment.
"Alright, you two," Jane declared, still holding onto them as they continued down the hallway. "No more shenanigans for now. We've got classes to get to!"
"Fine, fine," Paul agreed, though his eyes still held a touch of mischief.
Little did they know that the events that lay ahead would test the strength of their friendship and **** them to confront the true depths of their feelings for one another.
