Chapter 1 by Deadedge Deadedge

My name is Barry Allen and I am the fastest man alive. Before we embark on this brand new mission of mine I think I better start from the beginning. The day it all changed. The day I finally discovered the truth about the Speedforce... and the truth I discovered about myself.

I loved running. I loved seeing the world flashing by me. The colours. The sounds. To run was to be free. I thought that this was the best feeling in the world but I was ignorant. I hadn't learned to fully control my powers yet, how to fully harness the Speedforce. I didn't even know what it was really... All I knew was that it helped me break the laws of physics, do impossible things, and be the fastest man alive.

I ran from the Western Central City Bank to a police van six blocks away in a heartbeat, leaving a pair of dazed and confused would-be ATM thieves handcuffed to the door. The officer leaning against the van adjusted his hat a little and continued to enjoy his coffee and doughnut. I was half way across the city by the time he could react fast enough to give me a cursory thank you.

Skidding to a halt at the docks I put a finger to my earpiece as I surveyed the area.

"I don't see her, Cisco," I said, walking along the weirdly empty dock on this overcast morning. The sound of Cisco chewing on his breakfast bar was followed by the tapping of keys.

"The heat signature just vanished," said Cisco through the earpiece and a mouthful of granola. "It looks like it might've dissipated all of a sudden and- I think I can trace where we picked it up last and maybe-" I stopped as Cisco's chatter stopped.

"Got something for me?" I enquired hopefully.

"Yyyes... yes!" he shouted, excited and triumphant. "Eastern wall of that warehouse at the end of the dock. Second floor. Localised temperature anomoly and it is rising and fast. Hot stuff is in there."

"Hot Stuff?" I said, raising and eyebrow as I turned to face the end of the dock. "Is that the codename for this one?"

"I'm still working on it," Cisco gruffed as I dashed towards my target.

The second floor of this abandoned warehouse was stereotypically rundown, the odd wooden crate and empty metal shelving littering the place. I saw her huddled at the far wall, legs to her chest. Seeing the air blur around her from the heat she was emanating I approached with caution.

"Britney, right?" I called out in an even voice, not wanting to startled her. Her eyes shot up me and I noticed her pupils were glowing red. Never a good sign. I raised my hands to show her that I wasn't a threat and closed the distance. "I'm just here to help you okay. Whatever you're going through, whatever's happening to you, I can help."

I paused when she stirred. She was gingerly getting to her feet, leaning on the wall for support as if her legs were wobbly. The brickwork where her hand touched it began to sizzle. That's when I noticed the black flakes falling off her body. I thought she had been wearing a black dress or something... maybe she had been, but the heat from her body had burned whatever clothing she had been wearing into ash. She stood there before me, naked save for a few smudges of black soot. I averted my eyes and tried not to take a step back. I was a superhero damnit... not some normal guy who got awkward around a bit of skin... it was a lot of skin to be fair and I couldn't help but notice Britney was super fit.

"Yes," she rasped, her mouth sounding dry. "You can help me, Flash." A smile spread across her face, alluring. Her dark hair framed her smoky features and shifted ever so slightly with the waves of warmth boiling off her. That's when I noticed tiny sparks of red static arcing across her skin. I recognized it immediately. It looked just like the energy of the Speedforce.

"Cisco something's not right," I said into the earpiece. "Cisco?" There was silence on the other end then a piercing whine that made me flinch as my comms device shortcircuited. Britney's lightning was starting to leap off her body in wider arcs and was interfering the tech in my suit. I sensed it now... it was the Speedforce coming from her and I could feel it resonating within me as she took another step forward. For some reason I couldn't move. My analytical mind tried to figure out what was happening. She wasn't acting like a speedster... her power seemed to be heat generation. How could the Speeforce do this?

The meta held a hand to her face then tilted her head back slightly, lips parting as she sighed with longing. Her body language was clear as her other hand ran down her figure, fingers tracing her neck to her breasts, slipping to her hips. A being of insatiable lust she closed in on my frozen form I held my breath. Her radiating heat engulfed me, yet it was more than just an rise in temperature. I could smell her power, feel it vibrate through me, making my skin tingle.

"Help me, Flash," she whispered, her lips millimetres from my ear, yet she still hadn't physically touched me. I felt my own Speedforce start to crackle through my body in yellow arcs down my arms. I saw into her eyes and the want in her soul. She wanted me. I wanted her. We needed to... merge... be as one. One Speedforce.
