Empire

You grew up in the suburbs of Silv, the capital of the frontier world of Lore. Lore is a vast 8888 parsecs, almost 30,000 light years, from the human origin world of Earth. That yawning distance places it second farthest from Earth among the 1280 known, fully-inhabitable planets. Only the newly discovered Xin is further distant, with that planet located on virtually the other end of the galaxy. This, at least, according to Lore's most recently received reports. With the ten months required for word to travel from one side of the galaxy to the other, distant news is often incomplete and out of date.

Lore has a radius of two thousand miles, about twice that of Earth's single moon. It orbits a sun similar in size and strength to Earth's Sun. Seven other planets inhabit the solar system, although these other planets are currently uninhabitable. For the moment, they provide plentiful commodities to fuel Lore's rapid growth - with large terraforming operations planned for the future.

The total population numbers one hundred and fifty million. Compared to the massive central planets, some with populations over one hundred billion, Lore is tiny, and little known. However, despite Lore's size and remoteness, its people are diverse in background. The majority are immigrants and refugees from the warring central planets, but many hail from far flung frontier planets. The planet's main demographic oddity is its high percentage of females at a touch over 75%.

Lore is a beautiful planet with abundant resources at her disposal. Her equator is full of lush forests, the regions farther north containing spectacular mountain ranges. The oceans are small, covering less than a third of the planet's surface, but deep.

Silv, the first city, was founded two hundred years past, with the river Rubicon snaking through it. It has grown into a prosperous metropolis, with merchants from distant planets visiting to trade.

Due to its distance and size, Lore is unbothered by the four competing empires whose rule governs three quarters of the galaxy. These empires have fought each other for half a millennia - a story for another time.

Although currently unthreatened by the major empires, Lore does have its troubles with other nearby frontier planets, as well as traveling hoards. As a result, Lore's military has been steadily growing. Using its vast trade income, the planet is pouring money and resources into strengthening the planet's defenses and expanding the navy. A state-of-the-art planetary shields and missiles defense system had been put into place, with dozen of space defense platforms in orbit. Lore's navy consists of a flagship carrier, five heavy cruisers, ten light cruisers, fifteen destroyers and sixteen frigates, with shipyards hard at work adding to the fleet.
