Chapter 1 by Allinyourhead229 Allinyourhead229

It was a bright Saturday morning. Alex and Leslie lay in bed enjoying the fact that they could sleep in. Alex rolled over and as he did he shifted the course of the spore that had been headed towards his wife. It landed on his upper lip and as he breathed it was sucked into his nasal cavity.

Alex felt a jolt go through his body. He went instantly from half-awake to fully awake instantly and shook enough to wake his wife. He tried to wipe at his nose, it felt strange. But he was unable to move. His eyes closed tightly and he found himself seeing a vision of an open field with the greenest grass he had ever seen.

The grass seemed to speak to him, "Do not trouble yourself we have assumed control. We are an alien species and have come to your world to spread our gifts. To do so we need vessels to live in and you are one of those vessels.

Alex was on the edge of panic, as hard as he tried he couldn't move or even open his eyes. "No let me go," he thought desperately.

The grass said, "It is far too late for that you are already our seedbed and there is no going back. But we are a great and kind species, we offer you compensation for your body. We found the distances of space too great to traverse with our bodies and so have evolved to see the universe firsthand in a different way. We can bend the perception of time to make eons drifting in space seem like nothing more than a pleasant drive."

Alex suddenly shifted from the green grass field to his old convertible. He was driving down the old coast road of California, it was a perfect day and he luxuriated in the feel of the wind and the sounds of waves and birds as he drove down the picturesque road. It was one of his own memories from many years ago. It had been the best road trip of his life.

"We can bend time and space to send our thoughts and images to others of our kind over light-years instantly." Said the alien voice in his head.

Suddenly Alex saw a giant planet rising like the sun on the horizon of what must have been a moon. It was green and blue and red and beyond any imagined drawing of another world he had ever seen.

"Between the ability to bend time and send images we can live a thousand lifetimes and that is what we give you in exchange for your body." said the voice.

Alex began seeing image after image, living life after life. He dwelled in many strange bodies, none human. He had red skin, blue skin, three legs then six. He could breathe underwater then he could fly like a bird. He made love to a myriad of strange creatures with strange appendages. After what felt like tens of thousands of years he felt like he must have experienced everything the universe had to offer and thought, "This is enough I must be ancient by now. I agree to give you my body, what is left of it. You have given me more life than I could have ever hoped for."

The voice replied, "You are satisfied so soon? There is much more to see. But we have taken full possession of your body so perhaps it is a good time. Just say 'Please, I love you' and our deal will be complete."

It was a strange request but Alex had no issue with it. He said, "Please, I love you." And Alex ceased to exist.

((I split this into two chapters for the sake of the story and to open up possible alternate scenarios. So if you have come this far please read the next chapter it should only take you about 90 seconds to read. Thanx.))

What happened to Leslie as Alex lived a thousand lifetimes?
