Demon's Prey

Chapter 1 by Josha Josha

Jamie Alariel is an 18-year-old, very fragile and feminine looking youth. His skin is soft and white, his hair is white as well with silvery streaks. His eyes are a soft, light brown which can look like gold in the right light.

Jamie was sold as a **** to a mage of the desert when he was just 10 years old. The mage didn't harm him, Jamie just had to serve him his food and look after his tent. But when Jamie got older he slowly begann to understand that the mage was practizing black magic. In the night before his 18th birthday he overheard a conversation during which he learned that he was to be given as a sacrifice to a demon the next day. His blood was said to hold a special allure for demons because he was still a virgin. Of course, Jamie was deeply afraid. He knew he couldn't escape from the mage, so he took the book and read the incantation of the demon, fed him with a drop of his blood and thus gained power over the demon. The demon fulfilled his wish and took him to Gasharel, the capital of Ahlan, the desert-kingdom. Jamie is now alone in the city and thinks he is free, but he doesn't know that the demon is bound to him now by his blood... the demon tasted his virgin blood, he has to take either all of his blood now or take his virginity to break the power Jamie still holds over him.

K'tk E'bls called Shatter has been alive since before men counted time. He appears mostly human. He has clawed hands and feet, fangs and a tail. His eyes are black but brighten to orange when he's angry. Dark gray skin with a deep red pattern that looks like cracks. Hair is the same gray as his body but with red streaks in it.

K'tk was always different from the general run of demons. Where the others enjoyed the suffering and **** of humans K'tk prefered to leave them alone so long as they left him alone. He was no less powerful despite his distaste for blood and was given the guardianship of an object important to a more powerful demon. K'tk guarded it well for a millenia but his sense of fair play undid him in the end. A group of adventurers with a holy sword came and camped near the temple which held the object. Their guard grew tired and fell asleep, able to give them no warning, but K'tk would not kill them while they slept, instead he gave warning and fought them fairly. The sword was more powerful than K'tk and he was defeated, his wings ruined and the object taken. The Elder demon bound his powers putting him at the beck and call of human wizards. K'tk took the name Shatter to be easier on the human tongue. He will remain bound until such time as the object is recovered, but he can only reside within the mortal realms if summoned by a mortal and is bound to do the mortals bidding when summoned which gives him little chance to be free again.

An inexperienced mortal has summoned him with a spell meant for a stronger demon and bound them together with a blood tie. It takes little to summon and keep Shatter since he is eager to be in the mortal realms but this bond requires him to remain near to the mortal. So Shatter dogged the boys trail unseen, having been dismissed but not unsummoned. Three ways to break the bond. The first was simple, he simply had to finish what had been started with the first taste of that blood, but Shatter had no desire to kill the boy. A servant, ****, kindred of a sort. The second would be to change the boy so that the taste of blood was the whole of that blood, a virgin's blood does not reside in a boy no longer a virgin. A pleasant enough way of dealing with the problem, but it would not truely free Shatter. The third would be to enlist the boy in his quest. It would allow him to remain in the mortal realms and once the object was found Shatter would no longer be bound by the rules of lesser demons. But that would require the willing help of the boy and it seemed unlikely.

The second then, Shatter decided as he trailed the boy, silent and unseen. Difficult because the boy was both summoner and sacrifice and could command him to stop if given the chance. So he would wait until the boy found a place to sleep and settled in and hope that the boy's inexperience would work in his favor and he wouldn't even think to command Shatter.

What does Jamie do?
