Day 17

Julie never watched the news but since the night when the city that her big sister was going to college in became home to an incident that had the world buzzing she was obsessed with the news. The story playing now was about a shooting from her sisters college campus.

"The shooter was a male student who opened fire on campus this morning killing 2 and wounding 4 others. All the victims were female, no motive has been discovered."

Julie texted her sister, "hey you ok?" About two minutes later she received an answer, "sure whats up". Julie was relived and asked about the shooting. Crissy hadn't heard about it but had heard lots of crazy rumors over the last week. Finals were only a month away and ever since the Lights people had been more stressed out than usual.

Day 21

The latest theory was that the lights were part of some terrorist plot gone awry. Julie couldn't believe it, but authorities had cordoned off the city and a manhunt had begun. Reports were that dozens of FBI agents had entered the city and all mass transit to and from the city had been halted. Julie thought about sweet talking her boyfriend Jake into driving her to see her sister just to see what was happening for herself. But with graduation from high school just a short way off she had way too much on her plate for that.

Day 27

Julie and her mom where in the middle of making dinner when both of their phones buzzed with an emergency warning. "THIS IS NOT A WARNING. STAY INDOORS AND TUNE TO EMERGENCY BROADCASTS TO AVOID POSSIBLE FALL OUT"

"What the hell" Julie's mom said to her phone. "Fall out??" She turned on the TV and both her and Julie were shocked at what they saw. "We are 15 miles from ground zero, the bomb destroyed most of downtown Springfield in an instant. Government officials estimate that it was a 2 megaton device. How it got into the city and who set it off are still unknown. But leading experts believe that whatever terrorist cell the authorities were seeking out where behind the attack." said the on scene reporter, her voice oddly steady in this shocking tragedy.

Julie heard her mother slide to the floor in shock, "my baby....". Julie pulled out her phone and texted her sister, "are you ok". She comforted her mother while the TV droned on in the living room. Neither of them heard it over the dreadful thoughts running through there minds. When Julie's phone buzzed she nearly dropped it in her haste to see the message.....
