Coverstar island

PART ONE

Sofia and Brittany have been friends their whole life. Their parents have been neighbors, and even after that they remained close. They visited the same school, had the same interest and the same friends, they started in the same job and they kept doing it, becoming full time professional tour guides. Not that any of that was highly unlikely living on an island of that size.

Brittany and Sofia live on Coverstar Island, a paradise surrounded by nothing but a few smaller islands and ice blue water, they were born and raised in Kaliti, the only town of about 5000 people on the island, a simple, but beautiful place fully relying on the economy from visitors of the pink diamond resort. The pink diamond resort, a massive, and luxurious complex at one of the beaches, has been the only constant stream of visitors for decades, and it provided the towns people with jobs and customers for their shops and restaurants, in fact, Sofia and Brittany were working for the resort their whole life, at least until it went bankrupt about two years ago. The sudden stop of the only constant source of money led the small community of the island to a serious economic crisis, threatening their existence and their lives on the island, after all, as soon as all the money was gone, they would have to sell everything left here and move away to find jobs on the mainland, a thought only few here enjoyed.

The more relieved they were, when they found out, that the company, which by now was in massive debt, was bought and all the debts were paid.

Before the mayor could even reach out to the man, since it was a man, who bought the company, the first packages came in. Over the course of a year this man has been supporting the town and its people with generous donations, and the workers, which he sent on the island to tear down and renovate the entire resort, to improve and modernize it, as they said, brought new business into town.

It was also around that time, in which the local employees, or at least some of them, for example Sofia and Brittany, started receiving their first additional packages, most of them contained nothing of importance, usually small gifts, promotional stuff of the resort, but some contained other stuff, a new contract, new rules and regulations, a little tighter then they used to be, but nothing special.. and video tapes explaining their new instructions.
