Communal Love

People say you can’t choose your family, but that is simply not the case. You can’t choose blood, but blood is hardly ever truly family. Family are the people you trust no matter what, the people who are there for you when you need them most, and they are most certainly the people whom you love without ever really needing to question why.

Sometimes it is the family that you choose that will be stronger than any other ties, and love is always the deciding factor. Love is such a monstrous thing, without any logic behind it and never truly feeling right. You could love simple things, such as the sound of a thunder storm while falling asleep, or the smell of a freshly brewed cup of coffee while waking up. You can also love more animate things, such as a loyal dog that never leaves your side or an aloof cat whose sporadic attention means more than anything else in the world. Then, there’s loving humans.

Humanity is complicated, to say the least. Human history is a long story, filled with war, mayhem, and destruction. However, it is also a story filled with redemption, hope, and love. Humanity cannot survive without love, without a sense of belonging and community. Some scratch away at the edges of capitalist society hoping to stumble their way into security and belonging. Some even find it, but this is not a story about those people.

This is a story about people who chose a different path; the path of Communal Love. Communes are not a new phenomenon, stretching back to the first early civilizations where former hunter-gatherers worked together to invent farming, finally forming permanent homes rather than constantly moving. Modern communes take a step forward, by taking this massive leap backwards and embracing this early structure of society. It is people wishing to find like-minded souls to trust, and support while enjoying the same trust and support from the others. A fool-hardy, utopic vision to some is a paradise come true to others. This paradise comes with a price however, and only time will tell if the price is worth it.

Welcome to my first story! The main storyline will be my own, with very few side branches to discover. If you choose the first option everytime, you'll follow the story as I envision it, the when I do stray from that path there well be some enjoyable canon stories for you. Uploads will be sporadic at first, but i'm hoping to upload roughly 1-2 chapters a week once i'm able to write longer and better chapters.
