Bored with a magic remote

Ben Jenkins was at a pretty low point in his life. He didn't have a job, a girlfriend, a social life, much money, or any real drive to improve himself. His parents would float him some cash if he ever got too broke, so he didn't worry that much about money. But his TV remote had broken earlier today when he spilled some Mountain Dew on it.

Ben didn't really feel like getting dressed and going to the store, so he scoured the internet to find a website that would deliver him a universal remote that day. After an hour of searching, he finally found a shady website that offered free delivery within the hour for any purchase. He found a universal remote for cheap and quickly made the order. He texted his parents to ask for money and ordered some Taco Bell from Door Dash.

About twenty minutes later, Ben heard a knock at his apartment door. He shuffled over and opened the door, curious if it was his remote or his tacos. He didn't see anyone outside of his apartment, just a small, unmarked box. He picked it up, closed the door, and sat down at his table. He opened the parcel to find a small remote. He picked it up and checked for batteries, relieved to see they were already installed. He looked for an instruction manual, not finding anything.

He stared at the device in his hands curiously. Most of the buttons seemed self explanatory and normal, but there were a series of buttons at the bottom that didn't really seem familiar.

The first said "input user," then "input command," "input changes," "apply changes,' and finally a red microphone button in the center.

Ben figured he could try the new buttons out later, but he wanted to find something to watch first. He turned on his TV and started flicking through the channels.
