Blending In With The Crowd

A special ring has found its way to an unsuspecting victim. A ring with the power to transform anyone based on their surroundings, leaving them much like their current peers both physically and mentally.

Once anyone puts on the ring, its powers instantly activate, slowly changing the person into that like those around them over the course of a couple hours. If there are many different kinds of people around or even just one there will be no effect as there isn't enough for the ring to take from. According to observations there needs to be at least 2 similar people close to the user to take changes from.

If someone wears the ring around a group of fairly similar individuals they will shift into someone containing the most common traits found in everyone, while still (usually) retaining the likeness of their original self. For example if a shy girl enters a room full of more outgoing people. Regardless of what their other traits are individually, she will at least gain their outgoing personality. If most of them happen to be blonde as well, then she will also gain blonde hair. If a male were to wear the ring around them and they all happened to be female, then he too would start to become female. Any and all common traits will transfer to the user when within vicinity.

If the user is unaware of the effects of the ring, it is unlikely they will notice any changes right away as mental changes will feel mostly natural, though they'll likely notice any physical changes. If anyone takes the ring off, whatever their current form will remain, only able to be changed by using the ring again.

While these are the known rules of the ring, it has been known for them to change from time to time. (You may make any changes to the rules to better fit a branch)

Just posting another story, I've had this idea for a bit and haven't seen anyone else do it in a way that scratches that itch for me. I left the rules of the ring open so you can make whatever changes you'd like in a branch. The more variety the better. :)
