Balance of Power

Chapter 1 by Daisy013 Daisy013

Julian sighed. He had just gotten off the phone with his ex-wife, Stacey, who told him that she was taking the kids to the Gold Coast for the weekend, so he would not be seeing his kids on “his” weekend. Julian wondered why he even got his hopes up anymore. The last time he had seen his kids was almost 9 months ago on his daughter Abigail’s 8th birthday. Stacey had made the mistake of telling Abby that she could do “whatever she wanted” on her birthday this year. Abby said she had wanted to see her father for her birthday, to which Stacey told her that was not possible. Abby had thrown a tantrum all day, and after 10 hours, Stacey had had enough and relented. Julian saw Abby for 5 minutes, but Stacey spent the whole time yelling at Julian about what an irresponsible father he was. But that was almost 9 months ago.

Julian and Stacey had been divorced for 7 years, not too long after Abby was born. Some time after that, Stacey had Julian convinced that she wanted to give their relationship another chance for the sake of Abby, but that of course, was just another of Stacey’s lies. She figured that if she had a second child with Julian, not only would she get more child support out of Julian, but that she could bring Julian to his knees. That’s how Cameron came to be born 3 years after Abby, and 2 years after Julian and Stacey divorced.

Julian was a 35 year old middle manager at a multi-national corporation. He’d been with the company for over 10 years. He earned a decent salary, but most of that went to Stacey in child support costs. Julian wouldn’t have minded so much if he actually got to see his kids.

Julian knew he should’ve known better than to get back with Stacey. She was a trust fund babe. Her parents were filthy rich and she had never worked a day in her life. Her idea of a “hard day’s work” was when she managed to put a few tiny splodges of paint on her most recent painting. Julian came from a hard working, but poor family. Stacey claimed that their relationship failed because Julian spent too much time in the office. In reality, Julian came home one afternoon to find Stacey in the lounge room being gang banged by a group of 20 men while breastfeeding Abby.

“Enough about the past,” thought Julian as he looked at the clock. 5.15pm, it read. Julian was just about ready to go home when his boss, Victor, dropped a pile of papers on his desk. “I need this Flinders Report completed and on my desk by 8.00am tomorrow morning. I’ve got a meeting with the CEO at 8.30am.” Julian sighed. He’d be lucky to make it home tonight.

Julian woke with a start. He’d had a strange dream. Something about changing the world … Julian panicked. He was still at work and the clock now read 7.59am. He had 1 minute to complete the Flinders Report! He could see Victor walking towards his desk. “The Flinders Report is completed and sitting on your desk, Victor,” Julian rehearsed in his head silently. “I’m just going to go home and get some sleep now. You don’t mind, do you?” Julian continued to role play in his head.

“That’s fine. See you tomorrow,” replied Victor as he headed to his office. Julian looked extremely confused, but decided to bolt out the door before Victor noticed. He headed quickly towards the elevators, but the doors were already closing. “Stop!” thought Julian, “I need to get out of here quickly!” Amazingly, the elevator doors re-opened and Julian stepped in, again stunned at the coincidence.

Sarah was the only person in the lift. She was a gorgeous blonde in the PR department. Julian had fantasised about her, but knew she was way out of his league. Julian closed his eyes and thought about how good it would feel to fondle Sarah’s breasts. When he opened his eyes, he was shocked to see Sarah standing in front of him with her tits hanging out of her blouse. “You know you want to give them a squeeze,” she said, smiling at him. Julian feebly squeezed Sarah’s boobs, barely believing his luck. As the elevator bell rang to signal their arrival on the ground floor, Julian’s hands retracted quickly. He realised how exhausted he was and wished he was at home in bed. It was lucky that he then found himself lying in his bed otherwise he would’ve fallen over in shock. One second he’d just hopped out of the elevator and work and the next he was at home in bed.

Then it clicked. But it couldn’t be. Julian vaguely remembered parts of his dream. Something about changing the world… “You now have the power to change the world,” a voice had told him. Julian laughed. That wasn’t possible. Was it?

Julian’s mind began to tick at a million miles an hour. If it were possible, just think of all the things he could do? A plan began to form in Julian’s mind. “If this is real, then maybe I should test it out.”

Julian tests his powers on...
