Annabelle's Experiments

A Medical Adventure

Chapter 1 by C0ffee C0ffee

Warning: the author of this story does not actually know anything about hospitals or clinical trials outside of House M.D. and Grey's Anatomy. Please promptly suspend disbelief. Also, this is my first attempt at NSFW fiction, and my first story on CHYOA. Let me know how I did.

Annabelle paced up the concrete steps facing a drab, white clinic. Of course, of all days she had to go out, it was during one of the worst storms she has ever seen in California, a "perfect storm" according to the forecast. Silver lining, she had on her thick trench coat and carried a petite black umbrella, a rare opportunity out on the sunny coast. Nervous feelings surrounded her as she thought about her upcoming experimental clinical trial.

Katherine Banks, her long-time college BFF, the one who begged her to show up today, told her very little about the experiment, other than to keep things top-secret, and that she was the "perfect candidate," whatever that means. As a girl in her mid-20s, with ginger hair, green eyes, lots of freckles and a petite stature, she had no idea what made her so ideal, unless... No, that couldn't be it. While she had never done research before, she had certain presumptions about what the process would be like. Images popped up in her head of patients in MRI machines, or with wires strapped to their heads to read their brain signals.

Around the front entrance, she saw a balding old man sitting in a wheelchair being pushed around by a nurse, both wearing plastic raincoats, and a large woman in her forties on a metal bench talking to someone on the phone while holding a large umbrella, neither of whom seemed fit enough for an experimental trial. If there were other test subjects, they would be in the building by now.
