An unordered delivery

Chris had been in work all week working his fund management job for a big banking group in London. Unfulfilled by work during the week he put his feet up on his sofa in his small one bedroom apartment, a couple of bottles down already, he grabbed a bottle of beer and decided to he'd try the dreaded dating apps he hated so much. So many good conversation going left with nothing, so many matches and no responses, so many girls unable to hold a conversation. Even with them thoughts he still swiped through the apps hoping he'd meet someone he'd build a life with.

He was just about to take a sip of his beer again when his buzzer went off on his intercom. He walked up to hit finishing a swig and looking at the camera on his intercom. It was a next day delivery he been waiting on, he recently broke his kettle and could do with a brew but couldn't be bothered going shopping. He also ordered body sprays he was running low on. He acknowledged the delivery man and buzzed him up letting him know he was coming down from the second floor. He met the man to take his package and thank him before returning to his room.

He shut his door and returned to the sofa sitting this time, to open up his package. He saw his new kettle and picked it up to check it out, happy he could have a tea. He checked the box and saw his usual brand of body spray he ordered and underneath them cans a jewellery looking box. Weird he thought I hadn't ordered this. Either way he wanted to see what it was, picked it up and slowly opened it. He revealed a golden neckless with a pink gemstone at he centre of the drop. "wow, that looks pretty expensive". He examined it but with his eyes only knowing he should probably send it back. He thought for a second well I better check I didn't ordered it and picked up his smart phone to check his app. To his surprise he could see on his order a third item ordered but with no picture and old a 20 digit number as a name. He could click on the ordered item but it just left Chris disappointed when that just left him with an item not found page. He tried asking a chatbot on the app about the item but it just said it was an item processed and delivered with no more information. left unable to return the item he gazed back on it thinking he could earn a buck or maybe give it to a partner one day. He downed his last beer and went back to his apps.

He doom scrolled for a while before being more than a bit drunk thinking it was time to end his night. He sat up and turned the background noise that was the tv. Then he was about to get up and go to bed when his attention was taken by the neckless sitting there. He picked it up giving it more of a look this time. He couldn't think of anything more than how pretty it was and how nice it would be on. He shook his head and then looked at it again and started to get the same feeling only this time his own thoughts said I could try it on to see.
