American Roulette

The lights on the stage lowered and a figure emerged from the right side of the stage. The lights then shone brightly when the figure--a woman--reached the middle of the stage. She was sharply dressed in a suit and tie. The rest of the stage was colorfully decorated with props and items to be used during the contest. Seats for the live audience formed a semicircle around the stage.

“Ladies and gentlemen!” the announcer spoke, her voice amplified around the auditorium. “Welcome to this week’s episode of American Roulette. I am your host, Laura Jacobs. Tonight, one contestant from the audience will face the wheel of fate ten times. Ten challenges to overcome, and seven handicaps to be avoided to capture the top prize.
