3589: A Mutant Odyssey

"John! JohnDoe! How have you been?" You hear, and turn around. Behind you, your girlfriend runs up behind you, wearing a pilots uniform that is almost identical to yours.

"Hey!" You say. "When did you get here? You never said you'd be joining the Academy!"

"Couple months ago. I was in the Terra portion of it."

You nod, this being reasonable. At this day and age, there were over fifty planets colonized, and each had a separate wing of the Academy. Ever since space travel had been created, more and more radiation was being made. This type of radiation made clouds that drifted in space, and eventually was dragged to a planet's surface, or would be pulled into a star. If it hit a surface of a planet, any inhabitants would be deformed and turned into mutants. Since these beings were so unevolved that they couldn't travel through space, no one bothered trying to correct the problem and space travel continued.

"So, what's your ship's name?" You ask her.

"The Mayflower. Kinda funny, it's a passenger ship bringing us to a planet to colonize it. What about you?"
