Chapter 1 in We Vibrate You
Sarah Smith sat at her desk, surrounded by textbooks and half-empty coffee mugs. She was deep in the middle of her exam period, and the stress was crushing her. Business economics, statistics, and corporate finance, it felt like her brain was running on empty. She had been studyi...

Alarm buzzes

Chapter 4 in Umm actually...
Emma’s alarm went off at 6:00, but she’d already been awake for twelve minutes. She’d set out her clothes the night before: white blouse, new grey suit pants with a crisp crease, white sneakers cleaned with a magic-eraser wipe because she refused to show up to finals looking smud...

Chapter 3 in Umm actually...
The second-floor hall at school was too bright, too loud. Sun poured through high windows, sneaker soles squeaked across tile, lockers slammed like percussion. John kept one hand on his bag strap and the other in his pocket, letting the crowd carry him. Nate peeled off a locker...

Roll out of bed for breakfast
by kennedyswe
Chapter 2 in Umm actually...
John wasn’t sure what had hauled him out of bed. Maybe the smell of toast. Maybe the throb in his head. Maybe the fact that today he was eighteen, officially, though he felt exactly the same amount of garbage as any other morning he’d woken up hungover. He shuffled into the kitc...

How's day one?

Chapter 2 in Astrid's Awakening: The NNN Bet
### Saturday, November 1st John’s phone skittered across the nightstand, way to early for him to wake up. He groped for it, squinted, and opened the message. **07.08 Astrid:** Morning run done. How’s day 1 treating you, **Hard**_?_ The photo loaded a second later: a casual sel...

> This is a rewrite of Mansplain by Mr. Nice Guy as I wanted some more freedome and didn't want to write the "alternate reality thingy". My branch there made it so that everything "Joey -> John" mansplained turned into reality for everyone. Here, it's rather local, so only the on...

Restart!
by kennedyswe
Chapter 7 in Mansplain
Hi all! Decided to restart this story in it's own story. Reason being that I did not really care for the "explanation of the power" that Mr. NIce Guy started. Don't get me wrong, I like the original story and the idea, but I'm planning to write from both Joey (now renamed t...

Back to Joey
by kennedyswe
Chapter 6 in Mansplain
Joey’s day had slid into idle time after the test packet left his hands. Finals meant half periods and too much hallway, a cafeteria that felt like an airport at midnight. He and Nate drifted with everyone else toward food that didn’t deserve the name. “Cardboard or rubber?” Nat...

More school, more studying

Chapter 5 in Mansplain
The school day trudged on, each period passing in a blur of half-focused attention and occasional glances at the clock. Emma felt a strange heat building within her, an itch she couldn't quite scratch. She attributed it to nerves from the test or the stuffy classrooms, but the fu...

Chapter 4 in Mansplain
Emma was ready before he even shuffled in. Hair smooth. Blouse pressed. Skirt sitting right. Coffee poured. She had slept, woken on the first alarm, and reviewed her outline while the kettle hissed. Thesis, three causes, two consequences, one clean closing line. She could have wr...

Chapter 3 in Mansplain
The second-floor hall felt too bright. Sun through the high windows, dust in the beam, the squeak of sneakers on tile. Joey kept one hand on the strap of his bag and one in his pocket, moving with the crowd because it was easier than thinking about where to put his feet. Nate pe...

Chapter 2 in Mansplain
Joey wasn’t sure what had dragged him out of bed. The smell of toast, the ache in his head, or the memory that today he was officially eighteen. Not that he felt any different. Mostly he felt like garbage. He shuffled into the kitchen, hair a mess, eyes half shut. Emma was alrea...
