Chapter 7 in The Band
Okay, it was electric. There was a shift in the air as we began to play. It was effortless, really; we’d start a song, and we’d play it almost expertly every time. We went for about an hour, and it felt like only a few minutes. Before I knew it, the three ladies were free-stylin...

Round 2
Chapter 6 in The Band
Betty let me keep the money we earned, which was good. I found the cheapest motel in the area and got a discount for ordering a weeklong stay. We didn’t make a shit ton, but I was able to feed myself bullshit and sleep somewhere for the time being. I practiced my guitar the enti...

*Come as you are, as you were* *As I want you to be* *As a friend, as a friend* *As an old enemy* *Take your time, hurry up* *Choice is yours, don't be late* *Take a rest as a friend* *As an old memoria* I sang my third song to the crowd. They liked when I started with th...

Chapter 4 in The Band
I drove for a few hours until I saw the sun rising. I began to get tired, so I pulled over into a mall parking lot nearby. I curled up in my backseat and quickly fell asleep. A few hours later, I woke up to a knock on my window. Some security guy telling me to leave. I obeyed, n...

Chapter 3 in The Band
I go home around 2 am. I was hoping that my parents would be asleep so I could avoid the inevitable scolding, but I am hit with the classic lamp-snap as my mom is sitting on the recliner. “Where were you?” She asks. Her cold eyes stared into me. I rub the back of my neck, attem...

Introduction
Chapter 1 in The Band
Ahhh, music…. The lifeblood of society. The one thread that truly connects all of humanity. You may not be able to speak the same language, sure, but play to a rhythm and suddenly you can understand one another. Isn’t it magical? It was, anyway… until rock and roll…! The ...

Michael Chase and his band
Chapter 2 in The Band
I’m atop a hill smoking a cigarette while I watch my high school graduation happening on the football field below. I am alone. I am 19 years old. I’m a bit under six foot, way skinnier than I should be, and currently wearing a graduation outfit (my mom threw a fit until I put it...

Chapter 69 in I am NOT a Hero!
Hey! MichaelChaseLit here! So I’ve been thinking… I have a choice for you all. I know this may be a bit annoying, considering I just adding a chapter after a *year long* hiatus, but I honestly have been really struggling to write this out any further. I have ideas, but it’s alm...

New minor villain time?
Chapter 68 in I am NOT a Hero!
A few days passed without much of note. Nothing superhero happened, nothing romantic happened, yada yada. Honestly, the lack of happening is what was weird. Vanessa still hadn’t shown back up. There was still unresolved tension between Ava and I. Kate and I texted cutely, but we...

Chapter 67 in I am NOT a Hero!
As I left work, I had one thought: I am very, _very_ tired. I had been shot yesterday, so I guess it was to be expected. However, my plans were to change; I got a text from Cait. When I saw the notification that made my phone buzz, my heart stopped. I hadn’t spoken to Cai...

Not enough sleep
Chapter 66 in I am NOT a Hero!
My eyes shot open at the sound of my alarm. Never in my life had I felt so violent as in that moment. If the alarm was a living, breathing being… I would kill it. Unfortunately, it is my phone, and I can’t break that (because I can’t afford to buy a new one). I turned the noise o...

Cupid’s Mistake - it’s all gone
Chapter 5 in Faye's Official CHYOA Story Contest 2025
I woke up the next day. I had a… weird feeling. A good one, but the strength of it was bizarre. You know that feeling when you know you had a good dream, but you don’t remember any of it? Like, the vibe is there, but the actual details aren’t? That’s how it felt. I sat up from...

Cupid’s Mistake - love making of two lovers who will never meet
Chapter 4 in Faye's Official CHYOA Story Contest 2025
We wandered the many halls in Aphrodite’s palace. I slinked my hand into her own as we walked, which seemed to bring her joy. She smiled up at me with those beautiful eyes. I found something in them that I’d never found in anyone else before; a strong sense of longing that made m...

Cupid’s Mistake - a conversation that shouldn’t have happened
Chapter 3 in Faye's Official CHYOA Story Contest 2025
After about seven minutes of being thrown around a color-filled hell, I finally landed in a realm I could comprehend. I landed face-first on the ground. I groaned as I pulled myself from the floor. I was in some sort of rich asshole’s dining room. A chandelier hung overhead, see...

Cupid’s Mistake - a melancholy tale
Chapter 2 in Faye's Official CHYOA Story Contest 2025
I felt a sharp, hot pain to my ass-cheek. The sudden pain bolted me awake and I looked around frantically. “What the hell?” I asked, looking for my aggressor. I assumed it was my girlfriend Grace, who had been sleeping next to- “What the _hell_?!” I yelped in fear once my eyes...

Viper captured. Now what?
Chapter 65 in I am NOT a Hero!
Kenzie 1 and 2 merged as we stepped outside. My leg didn’t hurt in the slightest, but I felt like something was off with it. I don’t think the body understands magic. Kenzie picked up Viper and began carrying him to the cars. “Great job, everyone! Especially you, Target; you rea...

The Chosen vs Viper
Chapter 64 in I am NOT a Hero!
Kenzie 2 motioned for me to move up with her. She was going those hand motions that you see then do in the movies, which would have been funny if I wasn’t freaking the fuck out. I inched along, wincing at every step. We were hidden along the left of the fence around the house, w...

Chapter 63 in I am NOT a Hero!
“Fuck, I feel like we’ve been sitting here for, like, a month.” I groaned. Kenzie giggled. “That’s just how stake-outs are. You’ll get used to it. If it makes you feel any better, I tend to do this alone while the other girls live their lives.” “_I_ could have been living my li...

Introducing: Target
Chapter 62 in I am NOT a Hero!
“Target?” Kenzie frowned. She didn’t seem to like my name. “That’s actually pretty smart. You’re ability makes it the best for someone to attack you, rather than your teammates. Genius!” Bethany grinned maniacally, clearly inspired. “Uh, well, that was just an idea; I may go wi...

Chapter 61 in I am NOT a Hero!
I pulled into a dingy apartment building according to Kenzie’s instructions. It was nowhere near the quality of the one we lived at. While Lovus didn’t really have a bad part of town, this was probably as close as it got to it. Just… poorer. Kenzie strode to the front and hit th...
