Chapter 5 by Dattboi69 Dattboi69

Who’s inside?

Your younger sister, Everleigh.

“LEIGH!” You shout, grabbing her from under her arms as you drag her away from the crash site. She’s out cold, you put a finger to her kneck and can faintly feel a pulse. You pick her up and gently carry her over to a tree, and lean her up against it. You decide to look for a medkit, fearing the worse for your sister. Running back towards the wreckage, it doesn’t take you long to spot one. These were single use nanobot injections, with the ability to stabilize most patients in critical condition. You recognize the orange case they’re stored in, as one was mounted next to every bulkhead on the ship.

You rush back to Everleigh with the medkit, and arm it. You stab it into the thickest part of her thigh, and after a few seconds, she begins to stir, blinking very slowly. She’s obviously very confused, so you keep your distance and remain calm. As she starts to recognize her surroundings, she begins to break down in tears. You bend down in front of her, so she can see you, and it seems to bring her some relief as she begins to recognize you.

“Oh my god Scott! Oh my god-“ she starts to say, unsure if everything is real or not.

“Hey, Hey. Leigh. It’s me.” You look her in her eyes. Her ice blue eyes. She’s always had very beautiful eyes. She’s the black sheep of your family. While you, your dad, and your mother had been relatively normal sized for people your time, Everleigh was different.

On modern day earth, humans have evolved significantly since the information era. Larger availability of nutrients lead to larger humans, and as a result, the average human was about 7-8 feet tall. You yourself, were 8 foot 3 inches. It was pretty hard to find shoes in your size, but you’d made it this far being able to find some. Recently, it had begun to be very fashionable to use gene therapy to alter your children before they were born, that way you could determine their traits and appearance before birth. This was very early in its first stages of development when you were born, but your mother was selected as a clinical trial when she was pregnant with Everleigh. It was fashionable to be smaller these days, as the fashion and beauty industry went through a process of “revival”, basically saying that humans were most desirable at their naturally evolved size. Therefore, Everleigh was modified to better reflect a natural human.

She stood about five foot two. With jet black hair and piercing blue eyes, her frame was slim, with a perfectly light-proportioned figure. Her pale skin was in striking contrast to her dark hair. She was one of the most beautiful women you’d ever laid eyes on. She was just under one year younger than you, so you and her had grown up to be very close with eachother, almost best friends.

“Scott, what is going on?” She says, snapping you back to the moment.

“I think something happened to the ship as we were waking up, and we got torn up in atmosphere.” You say, giving your best guess as to what happened to your colony ship.

“So what do we do now?” She asked, looking to you for guidance.

“Let’s see what we can salvage from this wreck, and I’ll continue to scan for some cryo-pods.” You say, helping her into her feet. She looks at your thigh, and grabs your shirt.

“Scott, sit down, now.” She says, looking at the cut on your leg. You look down, and see that blood is still running out and down your leg, you’re surprised you haven’t fainted yet. You take a seat on a charred crate as she grabs another medkit, this time putting the injection right at the middle of the cut on your leg, you hear a click, and then your wound gets incredibly itchy as your skin reweaves itself to cover the wound.

“Thanks, Everleigh.” You look at your sister.

“Hey, we’re a team, right?” She says, with a quick smile.
