Your familiar?!

Like a flash of light, your pegasus charges the two of you. He bowls you over, launching poor Kim off your cock. She lands hard. The ferocious beast looks as if he's about to charge her while she's down. You quickly scramble up and stand between the the two. Your familiar tries to go around you, but you're nimble enough to block his path. You know he could trample you if he really wanted, but he doesn't. You tell Kim to run. She takes the opportunity without hesitation. When she's out of sight, the pegasus neighs triumphantly.

"What the hell was that for?!" The pegasus obviously can't speak. Instead it merely licks your face. You can't make heads or tails of this creature. Some people it likes, others it tries to kill. Well, you're out here completely alone with it. You might as well get to know it. A funny thought crosses your mind.

"Was this your plan all along?" you ask. "Are you just jealous?" The beast resumes licking your face. You're not quite sure what that means. You think you're supposed to be able to communicate with your familiar. You try opening your mind to it. The sensation is overwhelming. You can see through his eyes, smell through his nose. You feel the wind blowing through his wings. Simultaneously, you retain all of your own senses. It's an ineffable sense of oneness between the two of you. You can also feel his thoughts. They are raw and uninhibited. The creature is driven by unrestrained emotion. His primary thought is one of protective love for you. But you also feel a burning hate for Kim. The thought of her fills you with murderous rage. You're revolted by the sight of her. Thinking back on your tryst with her, you can't help but puke.

You break the connection. Hands on your knees, you spit out what vomit you can. You get the idea to use void magic to clean your mouth. It's simple and effective. The oppresive silence returns. You don't know what you're going to do about your familiar. And you have no idea why it hates Kim. You take a deep breath. Closing your eyes, you succumb the silence of the forest.

The snap of a twig breaks your concentration. Is it someone else?? Or is Kim back? You don't want your familiar to attack another person tonight. You try to will the creature away, but it doesn't budge. Soon, the source of the sound comes into your sight.
