Chapter 60 by Darth_Halford Darth_Halford

What's next?

Your Noble Spirit

Suddenly, you steeled your faltering mind. Putting your cock back where it rightfully belongs, you found the mental fortitude you needed, and recalling a similar incident back home, that you once more easily easily possessed.

"I'm sorry Nynah" You began, speaking more confidently than you had just a moment before "I can't do that. This isn't right, and will only lead to more trouble" There was pain in the words that followed "I'm trying to do something for the women that important in my life, and this is a betrayal to them. I was hoping the Pathfinders could help, but I'd rather find a longer route with my soul and honor intact. I don't want to cause any issues, and I won't say anything about this,". You made your way out of the Pathfinders Guild, and paused to reflect on what transpired. You wanted to hold your head up high, succeeding again where you had often failed. And yet, that meant your plan would have to wait, or possibly even be cancelled. Most of the need for adventurers goes through the Pathfinders first. There'd been enough else out there that you were able to establish a name for yourselves and keep a permanent roof over your heads, but that wasn't going to work now, not with what you have planned.

"Fuck" you finally let your frustrations out into the wind, carried away by a gentle breeze "Why does this always happen to me?"

"Well, for one, you are a handsome fellow" The voice was feminine and unfamiliar. As you turned, you saw a radiant elf in glimmering armor. Made up almost as well as Trevolia once did, she cast a stunning image, a rare showing of both beauty and strength. "It's not often a woman gets to meet an orc as well hygiened and well mannered as you."

Your eyes narrowed, confused as to who she was or what she was going on about. Surely, she knew your question was rhetorical. You attempted to fill in the gaps "I'm sorry, but-"

"Oh yes, forgive me. Nasty habit of eavesdropping. I overheard your conversation with Nynah back there. I'm sorry that happened. This won't mean anything to you I'm sure, but, she's never acted that way with anyone else before. You do seem to have an affect on the women around you."

"Should I be expecting something from you than?" You asked, warry that this was going to go down the same road.

"Oh, by the Sisters, no." Her enthusiastic smile in her dismissal carried a small sting. She didn't need to be quite so direct "I wouldn't even know what to do with someone like you in my bed. That, and, like you, I'm a romantic myself. Being with someone I only know by name is, frankly, inconceivable." She was giving you more credit than you were due, which amended your perception of her, and you weren't going to correct her.

"Well, we can safely clear that first part up. Silve" You pushed your hand forward for a shake. Her iron grip was stronger than you expected, significantly more than yours.

"Yes, I assumed" her decorum was gentler than her grip, politely walking over you stating the obvious "You're something of a singular item, although I suppose you don't need me to remind you of that. Your reputation precedes you. Forgive me, you may call me Allemare"

"The Allemare?" You asked, again in a rare case of unintelligent behavior "There's a city named after you in Tillanog, isn't there?"

She had a gentle laugh of a practiced sort "Yes and no. I am the legendary Allemare, though I don't see what all of the fuss is. As for the city, no. That's a common misconception. My parents named me after the city where they met and fell in love. How and when they made it across the ocean from one continent to the next is a tale in of itself, but not today."

"What all the fuss is about?" You asked, surprised "You took down a Beholder, single handled!"

The elvish warrior smiled slightly "No, I really didn't. Someone who wanted to make me a public spectacle grossly exaggerated the truth. I had help from a foraging ranger and a druidic sect, who returned to the wilds when the work was done. I was the only one to return to the city after a successful mission, so I alone received the credit."

"That's terrible" You replied morosely.

"Yes" she sighed slightly, holding her arms to her chest "Put a sour note on the whole relationship. Granted, I wasn't really looking for one at the time, but that ruined the chances of anything blossoming between us. I'm sure you understand."

"Sure" You nodded slightly, your eyes squinted slightly in confusion "Forgive me, but is there something that I can do to help you?"

"Actually, I was hoping that I could help you. Well, helping each other, really. I overheard your conversation; such dreadful behavior. The Pathfinders should expect more out of each other than that."

"Okay" you dragged your word out, still dwelling in uncertainty "So, does that mean you're going to help me become a Pathfinder?"

"Not quite. We're going to bypass that entirely. I'm bringing you along as outside help, equal split of the reward"

"Thank you" Your head moved slightly back, surprised at the offer, unsure of how to proceed "Will that really work?"

"My comrades in arms will accept you along easily enough, especially if I vouch for you. As for the reward, they'll have ****. They wouldn't dare risk the appearance of being skinflints."

"That's good to know, though I do have a requirement, a pretty big one."

"And what is that?" She asked skeptically

"Discretion" You replied, with solemn tone. "I don't want it getting out that I put myself in a dangerous, life threatening situation without informing the women I care about."

Her lips perked up slightly "I think the answer to that Silve would be to simply tell them what you're doing, but if you wish to remain anonymous, I can certainly honor that request. But know this, you are more right than you know. This will be a dangerous quest we're conducting for the Pathfinders. No mere routing of goblins here. If you don't possess the spine or gumption for that, than I would suggest we kindly part. But, I would also say, to accrue the coinage that you require, in the speed you're attempting to acquire it, any path to reach that goal will necessitate no small amount of danger. Now, what do you say?"
