You pick up police evidence and call home

Dispatch assigned you to pick up the evidence characters from the police station. Evidence characters are characters who were witnesses to their owner’s crimes, were used as part of a crime, or committed crimes for their owner and they were used against their owner in court. You pull up to the back of the local police station with the large truck and once you got out you were quickly greeted by an Officer John Nolan from The Rookie. “Hello sir, are you the guy from that Rein Corp place?”

“I am, my name’s James Gardner,” you shook his hand.

“I’m John Nolan, the…” he swallowed a bit,” evidence is this way.” He led you through a few doors and had you show your badge to the Officer Clawhauser at the visitor’s desk.

“Hey James, how are you today,” Clawhauser asked friendly from the box of donuts he was eating.

“I’m doing great, I was able to find Starfire yesterday,” you announce happily.

“Really,” A massive smile spread across his face. “I knew you would. I never um doubted you. Have a donut to celebrate.” He held out the box of donuts and you took one with sprinkles.

“Oh so this is the James you were telling me about,” Nolan realized.

“Yeah we go way back,” Clawhauser said but before he could start to tell how we knew each other, an Officer Jenny with a sergeant’s badge walked up.

“Hello James nice to see you again but unless it's police business please get a move on, you are holding up the line,” she said authoritatively and a few people (and characters) voiced their agreement.

“Nice to see you too Jenny, I’ll just go do the pick up.” You say as Nolan guides you away. “I’ll talk to you two later.” As you walked away, you looked back and noticed Jenny and Clawhauser got passed money from other officers.

“How do you know Clawhauser?” Nolan asked as we moved through the station.

“From the movie,” you say with a smirk.

“Right, I’m still not used to all that,” he made a gesture with his hands. “I meant that particular Clawhauser.”

“A few months back, I got called to pick him up from a house across town. The parents had bought him to be friends with their daughter but they couldn’t keep up with his eating habits and a something else that I can’t remember,” you explain as you walked passed the holding cells with various prime worlder criminals and a few rogue characters that will likely be picked up by their owners in a few days. “I picked him up and he got processed at the facility. Soon after they sold him to the station. We hung out a bit at the facility.”

“So, your company doesn’t just dump pe-err-characters in garbage worlds?” he asked as he unlocked a gate with his badge.

“We are primarily a reseller, reselling at a heavy discount. Anyone who doesn’t sell gets taken care of but so far everyone finds a home somewhere,” you say giving the public explanation of what the company does as revealing we send them home with everything done to them wiped would get you in serious trouble with Reintegration Corp and RealDreams.

“Well that's a relief,” He sighs with a smile. “And just in time as we are here.” Nolan and you were beside a set of packed cells containing a few dozen characters.

“Is this everyone?” You say as some characters shy away from you while others get closer on seeing that you were not wearing a police uniform. They all had control collars that **** the temporary obedience of simple commands.

“Yes, these are all the evidence characters whose trials have finished and we no longer need to keep around,” Nolan stated as he nodded to a fellow officer in charge of evidence who pressed a button opening the cells with characters in them.

Looking over them, the only real standouts were a grown up Gwen Tennyson, a Hinata Hyuuga, and a Kyoka Jirou. The Gwen Tennyson was wearing an outfit that looked like her original outfit except it showed off her midriff and was sleeveless, and well hugged her C-Cup breasts. It also had a bit of blood on it. Hinata had on a maid outfit that had plenty of cleavage exposing much of her F-Cup breasts and it ended around her knees. The Kyoka had a dirtier and ripped version of her hero outfit. Most of the other characters were in various states of clean and had a variety of outfits. You recognized some from a few slice of life shows and animes.

“Well let's get them to the truck and I’ll get out of your hair,” you say with your eyes lingering on the three characters previously mentioned. It took awhile but thanks to the control collars they were quickly in the truck and strapped into place. Nolan deactivated the control collars and they flew into a box he set down by the truck. The characters stayed sitting in the truck as you closed it and locked it.

“Until next time,” you say, shaking his hand before driving away. You drove for a while, idlingly noticing an expensive car taking the same route as you to the highway. Remembering the conversation with your parents, you decide to give Aelita, Starfire and the others a heads up.

“Hello James, find other characters from your wishlist?” Aelita asked teasingly, with a few other voices chiming in with hellos.

“Yes three of them, but that is not what I wanted to talk about,” You say as you pass a semi truck that keeps crossing lanes. You could hear some noise of distress from the back of your truck as you accelerate. The expensive car follows your example.

“I’ll get the funds ready,” she chuckled before getting a bit serious,”but what did you want to talk about?”

“My parents called and I told them about Starfire,” you explain as you get off the highway.

“And they are going to come over to talk about the wedding,” she grimace.

“Most likely, I don’t know if it’s going to be today or tomorrow but they are coming.” You say. “You don’t sound happy.”

“I’m happy but it's just,” you could hear her walk away a bit. “You never wanted to marry me.”

“I do especially with the baby but it's just with the character marriage rules, I would’ve had to give up on Star to do that,” you say sadly recalling the various rules of marrying characters. “With the permit to marry Star not expiring for a few months, the only way to marry you would’ve been to declare her dead first.”

“I know,” she sighed. You think on a few things and you gain a determined face as you remember something you have been saving for sometime.

“I have an idea but I will have to get home first okay?”

“What idea?”

“Don’t worry, you will love it. I am about to reach the gate at work. I love you.”

“We love you too,” you hear Starfire shout from a distance on the other end of the call.

“And before I forget, Diana and the newbies’ former owner’s grandpa, Roger Hoofer I think, came by work looking for Diana. I’ll tell you about it when I get home.”

“Why?” You heard Diana ask as you reached the gate and an Urdnot Wrex poked his head out.

“I’ll tell you later, bye love you all.” You hung up the call (that was bluetoothed to the car) and turned to Wrex. You didn’t notice a earphone jack pull out of the wall separating you from the characters in back.
