Chapter 3 by Trom1806 Trom1806

What is your answer to Elder Franklin?

You don't have time to say anything in response to Franklin's words.

You were embarrassed and hesitated because of the angry words your grandfather Franklin said to you.

The elder continues to say: “You remember how I taught you to read the Sacred Texts of the Spider?”

You nod.

The irritated elder says, “You probably think that knowing how to read the texts is useless. You think that our custom, which requires that the adult members of the tribe teach each child to read the Sacred Texts of the Spider, is unnecessary. However, these Sacred Texts contain wisdom about life before The Universal Catastrophe, about the Universal Catastrophe itself and about how to live after the Universal Catastrophe!"

You listen to the elder's words. You understand that he started talking about his favorite topic. He can talk for hours about the Sacred Texts of the Spider. You vaguely remember how, as a child, your grandfather Franklin himself taught you to read. You remember the bright pages of the many small books that make up the Sacred Texts of the Spider. These books were covered with many drawings that depicted life before the Universal Catastrophe. These books are sacred relics of your tribe and are stored in a special room under the 24-hour guard of the tribe's warriors.

Franklin says: "As the Sacred Texts of the Spider teach us: 'No man can win every battle, but no man must give up without a fight!' And in your voice I sense precisely the lack of readiness for a decisive fight! You say that you just want "a little wait", Eddie! This is unacceptable!"

After his angry tirade, Franklin caught his breath a little. He took a glass of water from the table and drank the water.

Then he said to you: “I believe that it is in the interests of our tribe to send you on a journey through neighboring lands. We need reconnaissance of the area. We need current information about our neighbors. And you need to undergo the second level initiation. You have already completed the first level of initiation: you showed that you know how to hunt. Now you need to prove that you know how to fight for the interests of our common tribe, with the help of reason, stamina, endurance and a sense of responsibility!"

You have time to ask: “But where exactly should I go?”

Franklin responds: "You need to learn to take responsibility, Eddie. So I will give you freedom of choice.

First option: you go west to the city of Alma. They are our allies, but we still need information about what is happening in their territory.

Second possibility: you will go in the northwest direction. There are settlements of the Tribal Union of Divine Mountain there. Traveling traders from these lands sometimes come to our village.

Third possibility: you will go in a northern direction. According to the traveling traders, there is a some fortified stronghold with well-armed inhabitants. We need to carefully find out as much information as possible about them.

The fourth possibility: you will go east to an area where there are many forests and swamps. You will explore this area and learn about what is happening in the life of the local tribes. "

You listened to the elder's words. You were somewhat taken aback by Franklin's determination.

While you were pondering the elder's words, Franklin angrily told you: “Why are you standing like a gopher at a hole!? Go and collect the necessary supplies and weapons for your journey. You will set off on your journey tomorrow morning!”

So where are you going tomorrow morning?
