Chapter 5 by takacube takacube

Who did you switch with?

You're now in your dad's body, dad's in David's, mom's in yours and David is now in mom

"You're now in your father's body, your dad's in your brother's body, your mom switched into yours and David...well, he is in your mom's body."

You were right. The room WAS spinning. With the monitor hooked up next to you picking your increased heartrate and pulse spiking, the nurse quickly took the needle and injected it into the IV, a few moments before you swore your heart would burst. It took a few more moments of her holding your hand and whispering for you to calm down before you felt the pain subsiding in your head. "You're serious..."

Saunders, the other doctor in the room, looked at his colleague for a moment in reproaching him before turning to look at you. "I won't bore you with the medical mumbo-jumbo but essentially, your physical bodies were remarkably okay for such a violent crash. It was the specific portion of the brain that we had to deal with. Our procedures...while unorthodox, managed to save each of you and preserved full mobility and functioning. Essentially, your bodies and brains are near perfect." He placed a finger next to his temple. "This is where we made the incisions, small enough to not leave a scar but served its purpose. That's probably where you have some residual pain."

You instinctively moved your hand slowly to rub your forehead and then looked at the doctors again. "So...what happened? Am I the last to wake up?"

Kerry looked at his notes. "Actually, you're the second. Your brother woke up first. Understandably, he was just as surprised as you were, but he's been working through things. Once we're done with your examinations, we'll be moving him into your room. Your parents are taking a bit longer to get up but it'll be a matter of time."

You nodded and then almost jolted up in bed. "Tabitha!"

Kerry placed a hand on your shoulder and firmly pushed you back onto the bed. "Damn it, stop moving!"

Saunders brushed his hand aside. "Your sister is doing well. She took the brunt of the physical damage in your family. I assume she was sitting on the side of the impact. She'll be hobbling around for a few weeks, broken leg, but she didn't black out. In fact, she's the one that saved you all by crawling out of the car, up the embankment, and flagging down a motorist. I imagine she'll have quite the swelled head."

The flood of relief washing over your body at the news of your sister being okay must've shown up on the monitors as the nurse turned her head to Saunders who gave you a warm, almost grandfatherly smile, and told you to rest. There would be time to talk later. You didn't even bother to try and argue as your eyes drew heavy and closed.
