Chapter 10

What does Yonah roll?
Yonah rolls a 4.
“Whatever man.” Yonah puts down her phone. She was looking at a previous text conversation she ever had: dms, group chats, singular chats. All the mentions of Joel are gone, and only the name of Jersey could be found. She scrolled through, and it seems like Joel was always ever known as Jersey. Still confused by how Jersey got a card that never affected her, she decided to drop it and focus on her turn.
“Please three or four, please three or four.” Yonah whispers to herself. Two green spaces were ahead of Yonah, either a one or a six would cause her to land on them. Two unknown spaces lay ahead as well, a brown and gray space, either a two or a five would also cause her to land on them and she was not keen on exploring the unknown spaces. Yonah was hoping for the red and yellow spaces right in the middle. Hoping to get very minor changes, as seen by Seth’s and Jersey’s card effects.
Yonah, after shaking the dice for the duration of her small prayer to fate, released the dice onto the board and revealed the four she was looking for.
“YES!”
She quickly grabs her piece and moves it forward to contest the lead with Jersey as they now both sit on the same red space.
“Surely this effect will be just as easy as yours was.”
Yonah sounded confident that the red effect will be as minuscule as Jersey’s was. She reaches over for the red card and reads the riddle.
–
“Don’t think the cards are effective?
We’ll give you a new perspective.
Quick to make you ill-tempered,
When it's time to be self-centered.”
–
“Uh oh.”
“oof.”
“How did you get the game to threaten you? I didn’t even think it was possible.”
“IT’S BECAUSE I GOT GOO-ED ON EARLIER, AND NOW I GOTTA WEAR THIS. AND I WAS MAGICALLY TURNED INTO A WOMAN.”
“I mean…you’re right, but I can’t control her actions.” Thomas points at Jersey.
“WHA…? HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT ROLLING A TWO WOULD DO THIS?!”
“Oh welllll…” Thomas shrugs after that sarcastic remark. “I would focus more on the card this time. This effect doesn’t sound as ineffective as Jersey’s or Seth’s, in fact, it calls you out. What if it’s MORE effective?”
“Whatever man, it’s still a red effect, better than blue or green, or whatever those mysterious spaces are. ‘I Continue’.”
The card’s color dissipates and everyone watches on, unsure of what they were expecting. Yonah, who was a bit peeved at this point, now lets her thoughts wander to new ideas she didn’t think of before.
Why did we have to play this game? First we all turn into girls, then I have to wear this outfit. This is all Jersey’s fault. AND THOMAS! SHE WAS SUPPOSED TO BRING THE GAMES! We could’ve been playing monopoly right now, not this hocus pocus game. Jersey and Thomas put me in this mess. I need to go back to being a guy, what will my girlfriend think? I gotta win. I need to fix myself. Why help the others? They did this to me.

Yonah lets her mind wander until she realizes that everyone is looking at her.
“Well?” Ashton asks Yonah.
“Well…nothing. I was right, nothing happened. I still feel normal.”
“Are you sure? Cause, the game’s riddle didn’t sound like it was nothing.” Thomas asks in a surprised tone.
“Ugh, Thomas, shut it. YOU read the rules and let this happen to us, TO ME!”
“I’m sure. I feel just as I was before the card effect. The same way Jersey is still the same as well.” Yonah answers, attempting to get Thomas off of her.
“Nice, let's go. Red survivors.” Jersey holds her hand out for a handshake. Yonah reaches out and grabs Jersey’s hand in unison.
This doesn’t make us buddies Jersey. Don’t think you’re winning this. Yonah secretly puts of a facade for the group.
“Huh, I swear something should’ve happened. It doesn’t make sense for all the cards we got so far to have some sort of change happen to us, besides the red ones.”
“Maybe there needs to be a certain condition to activate the red cards.”
“No, that doesn’t make sense, all other cards just worked on the get go.”
“Well, they are mental changes, how would you actually see that?”
“That is true. But shouldn’t they be acting differently?”
Thomas and Ashton discuss this openly with each other. Thomas looks at Jersey,
“Hers was ‘Start a new life with a new name’ and hers was ‘When it's time to be self-centered’. So, Jersey should have a new name and Yonah should be self-centered. Hmmmmmm.”
Yonah seems quite impatient while Thomas and Ashton delay the game with their discussion.
“Does it matter at this point? I chose to continue, deal with the effect, and I can fix it later when I win. Let’s just move on.”
“When you win? Ha! It’s only round two buddy.” Ashton quickly comments.
“Whatever, it's Seth’s turn right now and we’re wasting time.”
Yonah picks up the dice and forces it into Seth’s hand.
“Roll.”
What does Seth roll?

Chicken out: The game
A simple transformative game of chicken
Welcome to chicken out! The game so good we spun it off unchanged!! Based on the concept of Mr_Anderson. This is a game of chicken. The players each take turns rolling a die, their game piece moves accordingly and they draw a card based on the color they land on. The cards contain a text with transformative properties. After reading the card, the player can then choose to either continue or chicken out. Easy, right?
