Chapter 2 by Geo Geo

So, who in Daten City gets to get the Wishing Rock?

Writers Guide. (Contains spoilers.)

The Wishing Rock; also known in this world as the Stone of Job, has a backstory for this setting, as well as having different effects depending on who is using it. Any wishes made should be done in bold so as to make sure the reader identifies it as in effect.

Humans have no adverse effects with the Wishing Rock, as they are the species the rock was made for.

Ghosts begin feeling good with every wish, their body healing up to be an ideal humanoid shape again, if not better than their old body. However, too much wishing before the mint green energy fades will make them too heady with the rush of stimulation that they’ll pass out.

Angels start feeling more like seeing others humiliated after prolonged exposure with the rock until it is no longer in their possession. This is an aftereffect of angels thinking humans as nothing substantial, and since the rock is made for humanity, it warps an angels’ perspective into a more corrupt mindset. Angels in this story have Sacred Rainwater bathbombs that are able to wash away any of the physical wishes in a five minute soak, but mental wishes are not as easy to get rid of.

Demons begin having more of a sexual nature to their wishes, sometimes also seemingly making wishes against their will, like feeling a sneeze come on. This is a failsafe put in place to prevent demonkind from taking a sacred item for themselves. Demons have little pots of Charon Sulphur, which acts like a smelling salt and clears away perception and mental wishes, but not physical.

The backstory to the Wishing Rock is after the trials of the biblical figure Job had to face so many hardships for the sake of proving his faith, he was given the Stone of Job, capable of making all his wishes come true as an apology. After Job had given up the ghost, the Stone had vanished to time, only to be found somehow somewhere in some way in Daten City.
