With a Bang

Thwack!

Roxanne struck out with the rubber baton she’d been hiding behind her back this entire time. The rubber cracked off Mia’s cheek like the snap of a twig. Mia stumbled backward, stopped only by the front door.

Mia saw stars as the effects of the glasses and the blow combined. She felt a tight grip around her wrist as Roxanne grabbed it and pulled her forward. Mia wobbled on jelly legs against the Punk Princess.

“This is a nice jacket,” Roxanne teased.

Roxanne ripped the jacket off her right shoulder and down her arm. Mia yelped as the jacket left one arm. She twisted away to try to escape Roxanne as her senses reignited but found herself tangled in its baggy cut.

“You bitch!”

Roxanne kicked her in the butt, forcing her to meet the front door again. She hit it with a thump, and Roxanne ripped the jacket down from the back before she knew it. Weirdly, Mia’s primary concern was Roxanne tearing it. Before she knew it, Roxanne wrestled it off her arm again.

Freed from her jacket and down to her long-sleeved pink shirt, she turned to counter her. The little gremlin jumped at her as she turned, and she got another whack on the top of the head with the rubber baton. Mia fell back against the door, stunned but not as bad as the first time.

“Not my usual style.” Roxanne jumped back towards the stairs. “But even I can appreciate a fancy design. And who doesn’t love fancy things?”

Caught off-guard and still woozy, she looked on in horror as her jacket had now become the property of the Punk Princess.
